Does anyone garden?
    #7887772 - 01/16/08 10:27 AM (16 years, 16 days ago)

It feels like such a fundamental skill but I don't have the first clue how to start. I don't even know WHEN to start gardening, but it feels like now is not the time as it's the middle of January.

Get yourself a couple florescent grow lights from the hardware store...shouldn't cost you much. That way you can start gardening right away and you'll have time to work out your techniques before the spring comes!

Just set up a table with a stand or something for the lights (I have mine hanging) and your pretty well set. Maybe put a timer on the lights, if your lazy like me

But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.

I love gardening. Just be advised that it is hard work that pays off later.

Find some seed packets of things you want to grow. They have instructions on how to plant them.

Also go online and see some tips on growing those items.

Some things are harder to grow than others so do not be discouraged.

also do a search on what kind of plants/trees are suitable for your area, climate and what suits your yards soil but you can go potting in pots if you want to grow anything that doesnt suit the ground you have

right now is the time I start tending to the soil for things I'll be planting, of
course the ground here is never frozen so that makes it a bit easier

Tomatoes are a great way to start and are oh so tasty when they ripen.
