More of a opinion then anything....
ok here the situation....have a casing sitting in a nice big rubbermaid container.
Everything has been going great, really learned alot here and there.... the casing was just put in the container on friday....on friday found out the humidity gauge that was being used was no good.... so today a new digital gauger was bought.....with a external sensor.... well sensor was wiped off with alchol, dries, etc. etc...and put into the container...
1 hour later checked it and had a temp of 81 degrees, but the humidity was only at 55%.....SHIT
so question.....should they just be misted down 1-3 times a day with water? or should perlite be added to the bottom of the container??
sure there will be more questions to follow.
please be easy....yes i did search and yes i did re-read the FAQ.. merelly looking for other opinions...
Thank you

forgot to also mention that if misting route was taken, then it would be 90% water and 10% peroxide...... Correct?

I assume the casing is in it's own tray inside the rubbermaid, correct?
If so, you're not incubating it properly, unless it's already colonized, and now you're attempting to fruit it....
MORE INFO PLEASE.

Using perlite for humidification is a good way to go.

yes it is in it's own tray..... 9" x 13" in side of a rubbermaid container....
the only thing i did not do that was recomended to do was put a cover or wrap over the tray...... the container is sealed, with no light...

So you've just spawned the casing and are now incubating, correct?
If so, seal the tray with aluminum foil or plastic wrap (a few holes are OPTIONAL). I opt NOT to put the holes in it. You need not worry about humidity yet, only temperature. Keep it sealed and dark for 7 days at 86-90 degrees.

OK...there is mycelium already poking through.....there was just a couple spots last night, so i took more casing material and patched.....now there is even more poking through.... if i take the cake pan lid, and clean it good with alchol is it safe to put it on top of the casing now? Maybe for just a day or two.....like i said it has already been since friday that the case was made., so it has already been 5 days in this condition. I went and bought some perlite....should i go ahead and put that under the pan?
.thanks

sounds like it's ready for fruiting almost... Just put the tray on top of a layer of wet perlite, or use a fish tank pump. keep the rh at 85-95% and fan a few times a day. You'll be all set.
