LA ID URGENT!!!!

In LA there are these little mushrooms that pop up after every rain on everyones lawns. I have looked through 2 books and haven't come up w/ an ID. I don't think they are active but I would really like to know what they are just for knowledge. These guys come up even after light rains on old peoples lawns. They get about 4-5" tall with a thin white fibrous hollow stem that is about 3mm in diameter. The caps are light caramel to white in color when they are small and there is a small dark caramel dot in the center. The larger they get the lighter the cap becomes but the dark dot in the middle remains. And when they get larger the cap flattens out. THe largest cap I have seen is about the size of a quarter. These things are common as hell and are everywhere in the south.

Please help.

And they always seem to be kind of clearish/transparent if that helps.

Conocybe Lactea I think..the inky cap. They're everywhere.

It would also be helpful if you could post photos (of both top and the underside).

A few other questions which might help us ID (especially if you can't get us a photo)... Is there a ring on the stem (look at the youngest specimens to be sure)? If there is a ring, describe it (including if it disappears as the mushroom ages). Are the gills free from the stem, attached, or do they run down the stem? Do they grow singly, in groups, many from a common base? Is the cap surface dry, moist, slimy? How long do they last (do they disappear in a couple hours or do they stay around for weeks)? Is there anything else distinctive about them (do they have a strong odor, for example)? And, as Mr Mushrooms already asked, what color are the spores (the spore print)?
