so i have the understanding that dunking after flushes is solely for the purpose of re-hydrating the substrate( or cake).so this is what i was wondering. After pasteurizeng substrates and casing layers there is all of that water left over. This to my guess is filled with nutrients that ran out of the substrate. Could this nutrient rich water be used to dunk? would it help what about liquid silkworm castings its basicyl the same idea has anyone ever tried using nutrient rich water for dunking?

I was reading an article in The Mushroom Cultivator about dunking, I don't really know if nutrient rich water would make a differance. You could just try dunking in mineral water, which is what I do anyway.

Water with nutes would not only help the cakes but any contams. that could invade your cakes. Maybe there is more to it then that, but I use bottled water for my dunks.

i don't think coffee beer and piss are suitable for dunking, but I think you personally should give them a try. but anyway i cant buy bottled or mineral water for 4 56 quart monotubs, i have used regular distild faucet water before, i just figured some nutes might be worth trying. i guess not.

Dunk in plain water. You don't add nutrients beyond the substrate itself. If you dunked in manure water or coffee, you'd greatly increase the chances of mold spores germinating and ruining your grow. RR
