cased grain VS. uncased coir

OK, I need some thoughts from experienced growers. What will yield better: 1q WBS cased 50/50+ OR 1q WBS spawned to 1q coir/hpoo/coffee (uncased)?

id say the sub will be better, but why not case it?

well if your not going to case it you might not get good results depending on your fruiting conditions

A combination of all ingredients mentioned. WBS spawned to your sub then cased.
or is this an I've got $5 left sub or casing? sub or casing? scenario.
I recon 1qt wbs + 1qt sub uncased will kick that cased wbs trays ass!!! Twice the body weight but with one arm tied behind it's back. I'll have a dollar on the uncased....

no contest, the latter.
yields are extremely dependent on moisture.
wbs by itself holds little. the casing helps.
a bulk sub will hold far more moisture than the casing will deliver to the wbs case. i think that's the jist of your question - is it more effective to have lots of moisture available in the substrate mass, or can the casing deliver just as much in the long run? the answer is in the substrate. this is why dunking/soaking is so effective.
(i'm also assuming you've got great humidity conditions for the uncased; as i'm not accounting for any moisture loss to the air. in less than desirable conditions, the cased wbs might fare better.)

Agreed. Grains plus a bulk substrate such as coir will far outperform the same amount of cased grains without the coir. RR
