Quite frankly, i'm a bit dissapointed with apple atm.
My GF's brand new Macbook pro overheated when playing WoW for an hour or 2. This is WITH a laptop cooler under it. You can just hear the fans kick into super max 1 minute into the game. Sure, the damn thing is thin...but what's the point if it can't even utilize the hardware that is in it?

I completely agree. Its deceptive to sell hardware that can't be used due to heat issues.

Fine, but that has nothing to do with THIS particular model.
On the Macbook Air: I think it's pretty interesting, however, it would be better if it had an internal cd-drive, though I understand that smaller laptops often don't have built in drives. I'm just worried that only Apple will be able to make external compact disc players compatible for this model, which would be bullshit. I also understand that only Apple can make batteries for this model, which is also expensive and ridiculous. It doesn't have ethernet, and that is the nail in the coffin for me. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/01/15/more_macbook_air_analysis_and_pictures/1

as mac goes more and more towards proprietary hardware (burners, batteries, EVERYTHING else) it just pushed me further into the other direction.
They realize they have a niche market, so they corner their customers into buying everything from them. I can't believe the way they make so much money doing this! Oh well, I don't understand the whole jesus thing either, so go figure.

Make certain the firmware updates have been applied and try reseting the SMC.

Alright, I was a noob. Since I haven't been handling it at all, I assumed the mac updated itself. Turns out this isn't so.
Anyway, it's all good and updated now, I saw one update was specificaly for the graphical crashes so we'll see how it is in the long run. Thanks for the heads up Seuss.

Stupid product.
$1700, and if you want the SSD it's an extra $999.
Plus the specs suck balls.

All depends upon what you are using it for. It certainly isn't a gaming machine, but it can handle normal office work without effort. For people that travel a lot, something that small and light is perfect. I never realized how heavy my laptop was until I had to lug it through an airport.

Welcome. The Macbook Pro really isn't too bad of a machine. Runs hot, but they have a lot packed in there generating heat.

Ya, i've actually been needing a machine like this. I need one thats light, has a long battery life, internal wireless and good amount of storage.
The biggest killer for me is that there is no ethernet port. If you use this for business, most hotels offer free internet, but not free wireless. The same situation exists at most of my friends' houses.
Also, 1800 dollars. I might pick up one of these in a year or two.
I expect apple will revise this machine fairly quickly. Its a great start, but i need more ports(maybe a dvd drive).

I think they're getting away from dvd's and cd's, personally I'd take a fat 5terabyte harddrive vs having cd-rom/dvd-rom
