FC Bacterial Problem
    #7882492 - 01/15/08 10:16 AM (16 years, 17 days ago)

My FC is just a large tub with tyvek covered holes to allow air exchange. In the past, I had perelite in the bottom, but recently, I decided it wasn't necessary since I get good humidity levels from just misting.

The problem is that now I am getting a bad smell coming from the minimal amounts of standing water from the drippings off the wall. My question is, what can/should I add to my spray bottle to keep this smell(bacteria) from coming back. Mind you, I do not spray the casings, just the walls.

You can add some H2o2 to your misting, just be careful with the amount. Do a search to find out the right ratio. I'm not entirely sure if that will correct the smell though.

Perelite is so damn messy though...

I would like to be able to clean the shit out of my FC after every fruiting session. With perelite, that becomes QUITE the task...

you gotta do what you gotta do..

maybe line the bottom with foil or something so it's easier to pull out and discard?

Thing is, the whole perelite idea isn't even needed for humidity, only for excess moisture soaking.

I think I'll try some H2O2 and see how that does.
