hit the function key then like f5 or something like that.. look around on your keyboard, there should be a little graphic looking like you can switch between displays.

Odd, the vga adapter is usely always on.

Check your display settings, the adapter may be set to a resolution or refresh rate that is not supported by the monitor??

Is it a TV or is it a PC monitor, im assuming its a monitor.

If its a pretty old monitor, you may have to change the resolution to 800*600

ok i fixed it, i went to: control panel/display properties/settings, then clicked on the second monitor icon, and then checked the 'use this service as the primary monitor' box.

all good now but the VGA cable does not carry the sound to the TV, so i have to listen to the shitty laptop speakers.

or you could have just hit fn+whatever key your laptop uses to switch displays..

glad you figured it out though.

i figured it was too complex to explain how to do it through dual monitor setup through your video card.

na i tried to use the fn+whatever but it didn't work. f5 puts the computer into sleep mode, and the only other one that looks like it would have something to do with a screen was f4 but that didn't do anything. but thanks for the help anyway.

any ideas in how to get the sound to work?

run a 1/8" headphone to sterio rca wire. Looks like this

1/8" goes into the pc's headphone/line out, and the rcas will go to the tvs line in, on the same input as the VGA. So if the VGA is input 6, the audio goes in to the input 6 audio in.
