ID on a VA/NC dune shroom

So i came across this lone mushroom, the only one i spotted in three hours at the sand dunes today...
it seemed to be somewhat old, possibly a couple days since its prime

Habitat: Sand dune, grasses throughout
Gills: black (hard to tell much)
Stem: 2 inches, orange
Cap: 1.5 inches, wavy around sides, orange
Spore Print: purple
Location: Southeastern Virginia, Sand Dunes
Date: 14 January 2008
So I have very little mushrooming experience, but it seemed to me that this almost looked like an active cyanescens...which seems improbable seeing as I'm on the east coast in the winter...
any ideas?

It would help a lot to have some pictures of younger specimens growing in habitat.
But from what I can see, it could be a Stropharia or Hypholoma, but its also very likely to be something else.

It could be a poison lawn psilocybe, I read that it grows in sand dunes and is widely distributed, but it might be something completly different. I can't believe that a mushroom would grow in Virginia this time of year. I live in the northeast too and we've had autumn like temperatures for awhile so I guess it's possible.

WTF with these ridiculous replies? Angel, go take a deep breath and come back in a couple of days. Poison lawn psilocybe pash? wha??
Anyway, I agree with Alan. Also I seem to remember a pholiota that likes to grow in sand.

Where did you read of poison lawn Psilocybe that grows in sand dunes? In fact, that sentence doesn't make any sense. Explain yourself.
There are no poison Psilocybes, as far as I know.

the only "poisonous" lawn psilocybes are the the ones that make you "trip". aka, the active chemicals are considered poisons.
..and cyanescens only grow on the west coast and europe to my knowledge.

Angel, that is some of the stupidest prose I've read here in some time.
DO NOT make shit up. Those who repeatedly give bad or dangerous advice and information do not last long here.
If the drugs make you dumb, then i suggest you do not post here when you are high.

The point of the shroomery is to stop the spreading of misinformation about mushrooms. If you don't know what the fuck you are talking about don't give advice. Holy fuck.

how common is the wavy cap in mushrooms?
I'm relatively new to mushrooming and the only species that I have come across that seems to have these characteristic caps are Psilocybe cyanescens..that's why i was so curious

It's certainly not Psilocybe cyanescens; the orange color and lack of bluing rules that out.

Wavy margins are a common finding in many species of mushrooms.

I think the spores are a bit dark for Agrocybe.
