Most Economical Way to Start Growing Reishi 1

Hello, Neat board here! Anyway, I've been an amateur mycologist for some time now, so I know what I'm doing to some extent, I just haven't done it in a while. I've previously grown: Oysters, Shiitakes, Maitakes, and Criminis. I'm interested in growing Reishi and I have a few questions. I work at a natural foods market and plan on selling them all the reishi I grow(I am not trying to make any money as it's a hobby for me, but I would like to eventually cover my costs). I live in a small apartment so I don't have a ton of room, but I do have a spare bedroom to devote to this. Any ideas on the most economical way to get started? Obviously a PC is in order, and I have plenty of supplies and skills to build a flow hood(HEPA on the way), any other advice? Basically I'm not sure what the best route to go as far as substrate is. I will likely start with rye as I have access to it at work, but what about fruiting and such? I've always used those 4-tier greenhouses for fruiting, but what about for this?
Anyway, it's neat to be a part of the forums here!!

Grow them on sawdust/woodchip blocks just like any woodlover. Reishi is the easiest of all, since no cold shock or other special considerations are required other than keeping it very moist all the time. I place my Reishi blocks near the output of the humidifiers so they are constantly misted and wet whenever the humidifiers are running. Good luck and welcome to the boards. RR

I believe your mini greenhouse are the best choice for an apartment.
Continue on this way, and if you can, build a bigger fruinting chamber with shelves into your house. Some wood and transparent plastic sheets will work perfectly!
and welcome between the bemushroomed ones!

hey RR (or anyone else with the knowledge) im also interested in cultivating reishi.. do they require as much fresh air and light as oysters? I was thinking of using the terrarium i put my shiitake block in since it holds moisture very well with decent FAE.. im guessing ill get more antler like mushrooms due to the lack of FAE since ill be doing everything manually (FAE and misting)

Excellent advice, thank you. So the mini greenhouse is the best bet? I was thinking of doing 2 4-tier greenhouses set up for humidity/air exchange and doing supplemented sawdust/wood chip blocks(2 per shelf). So, assuming optimal conditions I could possibly have up to 16 blocks fruiting at one time(or close). So I suppose, in addition to a PC and such I will need: Filter Bags Impulse Sealer Sawdust, Wood Chips, etc
Anything else, besides the standard equip. for culture work?
Any ideas on the best way to package them for delivery to a Natural Foods Market? I was thinking just selling them by weight?
Thanks!!

Jar culture isn't bad for reishi. Fill the jar with sawust and spawn and let it do the rest. Here's some of mine. RR
