No rockwool, as it's designed to hold water, not get rid of it. Use three to five inches of perlite. A few more holes in the terrarium will eliminate the need for the air pump too.

Won't the rockwool absorb the moisture from the perlite? I'm not sure how good of an idea that is. I would just stay with straight hydrated perlite. It's tried and true. You can however experiment and let us know if it worked. Can you do half and half and see the results? Then you can post it as a success or failure.

alright thanks man i just had some rockwool slabs laying around,seein if i could put them to another use. but anyways all the holes wouldnt cause contam threats?

This is true i will have to experiment next time around this is my first attmept and im going to get a little more knowledge before i go experimenting around .
