you should be waiting to expose them to light until after they are birthed. so to your question birth them before they fruit.

If I am using the PF Tek, I usually birth at 100% and then double-end case them. Years ago during my first attempt, every jar I used was invitro pinning like mad. I birthed them, and the pins developed into shrooms. See what works for you.

The only time I experienced invitro pinning was the first time I ever attempted the PF Tek. This was almost 10 years ago! I was also using the narrow mouth (tall) 1/2 pint jars, so they were pinning by the time they reached 100%.

If your jars have been at 100% for 2-3 weeks, birth them now unless you really want to try Hippie's Invitro Tek. Concerning why they're not all pinning, who knows? There are too many variables considering the amount of information you provided.

Peace

after they are colonized 100% for at least a week, birth them! then wait! it may take another two weeks someimtes ( worst case) for pins. mycelium startrs to form primordial knots after one or more factors occurs- drop in CO2, light introduction, increase in O2, drop in humidity. i think you are confused slightly as to this area of the tek.

don't pin invitro. it's shit. just let them sit for another week after they've been 100% colonized, then get them in a terrarium. The only reason they're in jars now is to prevent contamination of uncolonized substrate. As soon as it's fully colonized, there's no reason to keep them in the jar. fruiting requires fresh air and light, neither of which mycellium packed in jars in an incubator or whatever gets much of. put 'em in a terrarium.

Hey matts, don't worry you followed the PF TEK exactly and if you follow the tek you still should be fine.

But if you birth 1-2 weeks after full colonzation I think you can speed the pinning process up. I let mine sit for 2-4 weeks because I think it lets the mycellium get a strong foothold on the substrate and works better....

Your call, do what you wish, but personally I really see no difference in birthing when pins form or a few weeks after full colonization.
