Is this mycelium?
    #7879479 - 01/14/08 05:47 PM (16 years, 18 days ago)

I am new to casings and just want to make sure everything is going right. I had some worm castings laying around I know they are not highly recommended for casings but i had to use what i had, I am using Koh samui supers and fully colonized wbs. I put my trays in my fruiting chamber about 4 days ago the first pic you see is that and then i had to go out of time i have a little air pump to allow a little Fae i know this is not enough but i thought it may help well i was out of town. Now my question is from my second pic i took when i got back does this look like it is going right or should it be acting differently??

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

I'm almost positive it is mycelium. Although, judging by the apparent rhizomorphic growth, the fact that you used worm castings as a casing layer might make it overlay the casing layer. It might go through it like a substrate.

Yes. Watch it closely. If it does start going through it like a substrate, then let it fully colonize the worm casting first. Then I would either use 50/50 Peat and verm, or you can buy Miracle Grow Moisture Control and case with that. I'm not sure about straight verm. I've never used straight verm so I couldn't give you an experienced andswer on that one.
