Moldy birdseed

I got two big ass bags of birdseed. About 72 jars worth. Everything was strained and put in jars yesterday morning. I just got my lids ready and I see a bit of cobweb on some of the jars...If I sterilize them, would it be alright to use them? Or is it guaranteed to contaminate?

From the questions I have seen today, you really need to do some reading.

I've grown a shitload of mushrooms. Believe me, i've got experience. I'm just trying new things. It's just been a while. I don't want to fuck anything up. I just bought alot of birdseed and I don't want to waste it unless I have to. I was hoping someone had some personal experience on this. I know that it is said if there is any at all to toss the jars.

Toss the jars. Birdseed is cheap. Why fuck around?

got cobweb before you even inoculate it? dont bother man.. toss 'em and get some more bird seed.
try to make smaller quantities.. it's more manageable at least for your first time. assuming that it's your first time since you're 'trying new things'
what are you going to do with 72 jars of bird seed? seriously. fill up the whole monotub?
i've had experience with cobweb and all i can recommend is tossing it.. trying to h2o2 it down especially at this point (so early in) would be pointless.. why not just restart with new seed?

I don't think he said that he prepared 72 jars. I think he meant that he has 72 jars worth of birdseed available.
At the same time,(jrsxt). You make no mention of any other preparation of the WBS tek you are using, (Other than straining). You should have had the lids ready prior to proceeding with the WBS. Did you soak for at least 24 hours? Did you simmer the WBS for at least 20 minutes?
The fact that you have cobweb before sterilizing leads me to believe that you let the jars of WBS sit for a day or two before proceeding. That's a "no, no".

It's probably not cobweb he's seeing. It's probably sprout roots.

I would hope that by now he would know the difference between a sprouting seed and bacteria / mold growth.

Sorry guys, let me clear this up. This is DEFINITELY not my first time. It's been about a year since i've grown though. I soaked the birdseed for 24 hours, then drained for 30-45 minutes as usual. I forgot that my lids weren't ready. I couldn't get them ready until today. When I looked, there was definitely cobweb. They are sprouting a bit too. And yes, I am preparing 72 jars. My roommate is doing 36 and I am doing 36.
We have 2 greenhouses each. I am going to setup a couple monotubs as well. By trying new things, I was talking about the monotub. I've never automated one before.

Yeah. I think I may just toss it. It would probably be best. I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with saving birdseed like this. Thanks.

Yeah, they sat since yesterday morning. I usually don't drain them until i'm ready to put them in the pressure cooker. I don't simmer either.

I didn't think a single day would hurt though. Like I said, i've always put them directly into the pressure cooker after strained.

I didn't mean it any any harmful spiteful way Jrsxt. I thought the spanking was just a fun way of making lite of the situation. Hell, just today I had to trash a bulk grow due to contamination. That was 9 jars of WBS spawned to coir and about a month and a half gone to hell. I just said, "oh well", Where did I go wrong? I got 12 jars in the Pc right now as I type.
