Bet he isn't any more. Unless he's really fucking sick, I don't follow recruiting so he may be.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can do stuff like this.
I smoke alot of pot, and I love it to death, but I can 100% guarantee that if someone told me tomorrow they would forgive all my student loans or give me a scholarship if I quit smoking for 4 years, it would be no problem at all.
I mean...WTF...

they would have established probable cause anyways given the presence of the noticeable scent of marijuana emitting from the vehicle, maybe the guys were thinking they'd take it easy on them LOL

What an idiotic argument.
They were driving and smoking a blunt. Is that not a bad decision?
They KNEW they would get kicked off the team and probably out of school if they smoked dope. Whether you want to argue that drug laws are immoral or not does not matter one whit.
The fact is, they knew the consequences of their actions and took them anyway.
*THAT* is stupidity.

Do you honestly believe using drugs while driving should be legalized?
Thats insanity.

there is a such thing as responsible drug use. however guilty i may be of this same sort of thing, driving in the car with a blunt is not responsible.
lets call a spade a spade, four young black kids (obviously on the larger size since they are football players) are driving around a neighborhood at night. Cop pulls them over for "tag light out," then asks to search their car? Police fish for arrests all the time. Sucks, these kids just were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

i think that being intoxicated on any drug while driving is not a good idea. Cannabis is a safe substance but its still a drug. I play college baseball and drugs are strongly disapproves, the coaches and trainers want the players to be Soley focused on the game. Knowing this and risking lots of hard work training to be a baseball player, then risking all just to smoke a Dubbie is a dumb idea.

Do you honestly believe using drugs while driving should be legalized?
I haven't really though about that specifically before, so I'm not 100% on what my position is on that particular issue, although I have driven probably 250+ times under the influence of cannabis, something like 50 of those times I was using it (usually in the form of a joint) while driving, & I never even had so much as a fender bender, or even ever got pulled over for that matter. If you can drive after drinking alcohol legally, why not cannabis? With alcohol, you are given tests to see if your coordination skills are sufficient for driving. Why should cannabis be different?
Back to the story... I don't think the individuals should suffer any football-related penalties for this incident.
I will say, though, that I do believe it is far more responsible to use cannabis doing something other than driving. As far as it being illegal, I don't know. Does it really matter if you drink a couple beers while driving, or if you drive right after doing it? Yet Texas may be the only state where the law understands that they are fundamentally the same. Text messaging while driving is a greater danger than smoking pot or drinking a beer in my opinion (assuming one is familiar & comfortable with the effects of cannabis in the former reference, as I & I'm sure plenty of others are, & that they are only on their first few beers in the second, depending on body weight & tolerance to alcohol also).
I used to only smoke weed in my car while driving. It's no more dangerous than smoking a cig while driving. I can't put a count on the number ive driven under the influence of mj (every time i drive a car) but i can put a count on the number of traffic violations/accidents ive had while driving under the influence of marijuana - that number is zero. accidents and violations sober - around 5. Alcohol and mj are completely different when it comes to impaired driving. I would like to see some real quality research studies about marijuana impaired driving.
