Looks very similar to this http://www2.westfalia.net/shops/household/kitchen/cooking_desiccating_grilling/desiccating_appliances/289502-food_dehydrator.htm
The description text is curiously similar...except the price
Not sure how good either of them are though as I don't use one.

Im worried as it looks like there no temp control and im gonna use it to dry a load of shroomz! (already ordered it)
will full temp be ok? i think it has different settings for different fruits, maybe if i put it on flower setting, that must be the lowest!?

i will fan dry for as long as possible (which never gets them cracker dry) then finish off in the dehydrator. i will then put all the shroomz in a baggie, inside a baggie with some desiccant. I presume they dont HAVE to be vacuum sealed top keep for a year+, would putting in the fridge help?

desiccant sucks!! People are finnaly listening to me and using a food dehydrator. I have been on the mission to prove the it is okay, faster, cleaner to use the dehydrators for almost 10 years and now people are catching on.
Full heat is fine. You will not notice a difference. if you are big dealing the heat thing than you can open it up and clip the heating element.

Once they are CRACKER DRY they can be kept for a very long time even at room temp when double bagged and in something full of desiccant

the heating elements are usually seperate from the fans. It should be a round coil element, just clip it. Do not do this while its plugged in

Isit worth cutting the heating element off? Especially ifits just making it faster to dry and not losing potency?
I def dont wanna lose potency!

Please correct me if I'm incorrect but with out a heating element isn't using a dehydrator essentially just fan drying anyway ??

The heating element will speed drying. Cutting it and it basically becomes a fan but its better than fan drying because it is concealed. As for cutting the heating element and potency I do not know why this is realevent.

I get them cracker dry, grind them into a fine powder (destroying the cellular structure), then into a glass parfait type jar with a silica gel bag in there and then into a dark cold place.
I prefer grinding them up so when in storage it is very diffucult for anyone to visually identify exactly what that pepper like powder is.

Ive boughtn some desiccant, half of which im gonna use to store the dry shrooms, the other half i will use to dry out 9g's of them, while ill take another 9g's of the shrooms heated in the dehydrator, then trip with my 2 mates over a month (first use the heated ones then the desiccant ones) and report if there was any loss of potency.

I use a nesco dehydrator, with temp. set on 95, and I haven't noticed any loss. Not to mention they're bone dry in a matter of hours.

loss in what? What possibly could a dehydrator cause loss in? Size, weight?

Hey! I bought this very dehydrator last week, from Westfalia, where it cost a fraction of the price of those on Ebay. It does not have a temp control, it is either on or off. It dried 35g shrooms in approx 8hours BUT when I ate em at the weekend I got nothing off them other than my living room lights looking especially bright. This is my first grow, cambodian strain, pf tek. Maybe I just had a very weak flush, I don't know. I was gutted. Going to have to eat another 3.5g fan/desiccant dried this weekend and if I don't get any effect I'll know it's the shrooms and not the machine.

Chronic777 and Maria Sabina,
Any chance you guys can stick a thermometer in your deydrators to see how hot they get please.
Cheers

I have now munched down some shrooms of the same batch yet dried using fan/ desiccant and WOW, nowt wrong with them. I'd strongly advise AGAINST buying this food dehydrator as it would appear to have wrecked my mushrooms. Going to have a fiddle with it see if I can disable the heating element as folks on here suggest.
