Sounds better this time.
If I had to guess, I'd say that you did the first run before enough alkaloids were released. Maybe a two or even three day wait is better with some cactus(?).
At this point, I'd re-dissolve the product from the first run in distilled water, and use it for another pull.

I threw out the product from the first pull.If you ask me after it dried it looked like dirty re-crystallized citric acid.

I just want to report what happened to me here. This is from 6 inches of cactus.
I wasn't strictly following directions. I added what I thought to be ample NaOH to an unmeasured amount of water (too much probably), used fresh cactus ground to a froth in a blender, and used a drop of HCl for each salting. A drop is probably too much from what I've read, but it worked, and there was no major discoloration or anything like that.
I couldn't wait and did the first salting after just a couple hours. I got a decent amount off of that pull. My guess is the mescaline goes into solution quicker when the cacti are already wet (fresh)? I don't think it would be practical to do big amounts with fresh material, though.
I've done 3 saltings so far, and have what looks to be around 100mg, maybe a bit more, of a light white powder with an ever so slight yellow hue. I tasted it, and it doesn't taste salty, and didn't give my tongue chemical burns, so I think it's mescaline!
Either way one thing peaks my curiosity. Why does the cactus prefer the aqueous phase? Is it just because it's wet to begin with so it's 'repelled' by the nonpolar phase?
Here's a picture. The mescaline can be seen on the left. Not the best picture of the results, but the other pictures I took had bad lighting. Hopefully no LEOs lift my print off of that jar ! Maybe I shouldn't put ideas in their head. Whatever.

Anyway this extraction works fine. Don't let the naysayers deter you!
Edit: I had a guinea pig try out what was there, and he seemed affected. Yay!

Just read the whole thread... gotta give you for the patience you showed (i had to put tree moss on my ignore list cause i couldn't read that insane bull shit anymore) it was actually the first time i used that feature.
Truely......... AWSOME MAN I SHALL GIVE IT A TRY.

Man this is a huge thread now. Its stays on my thread list which keeps me coming back to see whos thinking about doing it.
I still highly recommend this simple tek. These idiots who make this claim and that claim of why it doesn't work are making some major mistakes somehow, or they are just BSers.
I'll keep refering ppl here as I get asked all the time which tek I use. While I have moved on to hcl, I would have never even given my chemistry skills a shot without this very thread.
Great job 04. If you've used this tek give the man a great rating.

Does anybody know how soluble (quantitatively) mescaline citrate is in ice cold water?
If it's low enough, it may be possible to skip the nonpolar part of the extraction, and just precipitate mescaline citrate from cactus syrup.

I'm just curious, and I apologize if this has been asked earlier, but could this extraction be used for dmt? It seems like it would, but I'm not very knowledgeable in the area of extractions, so I don't know.

Just woke up from a trip off of 500mg of citrate and 200mg of HCL.It was my first experance with Mescalne extracts.I had a pretty good time I would say it reminds me of a very natural feeling MDA(IMO not MDMA like alot of people say). The visuals were nice(could have been a little more but I will take more next time)and the body buzz was also pleasent.SWIM did not have the best results off of this tek this time but I think that is because it was his first time trying this tek,so next time he hopes for much better results.I might post a trip report or I might not,I have a busy day ahead of me so I might wait until next trip so I will have a bit more to report. One thing I will say is that I did not get that "conected to evrything"feeling I get of shrooms and acid.I felt very close to other individuals but not with the whole world around me.I thought that was slighty stange seeing how IMO natural hollusinagins seem to give me a more connected feeling than drugs like LSD or MDA,MDMA.

It might work but I would just give Normans tek a try for the DMT.

Took a brew made from one foot of SP, boiled down to a shot and filtered to pretty good clarity...
Stuck it in the freezer...
Let it thaw in the fridge...
Then, Lo and behold...

Yea, you're right, haha. Like I said though, I'm not too familiar with extraction teks, so I wasn't sure how similar to a dmt extraction this was, and it was presented in a straight ahead manner with pictures (I'm a visual learner, so it's much easier for me to understand with pictures). Upon looking up dmt extractions, they are actually quite similar in almost all ways, but I realize the importance of following certain teks to a T.

Maybe you guys aren't reading my post correctly...
Cactus to crystal using NO CHEMICALS.
Based on the techniques outlined in this thread, one is able to extract crystalline alkaloid from fresh cactus WITHOUT use of acids, bases, solvents, or ANY chemical besides pure distilled water.
This is blowing my mind.

Working on it.
Is that what it is? Carbonate?

mescaline is pretty much overrated but as someone sitting on some dried peruvianus and a bunch of live ones in the windows
i may consider such a tek, with a modification or two.
