Humidity question
    #787475 - 07/31/02 03:50 AM (14 years, 7 months ago)

I know that if you have too little humidity, it's really bad for the cakes to grow so im asking if there is such a thing as too much humidity and if so, will it cause aborts? which is the best method of humidification if im using a 3'x1' tank growing about 12 cakes in it.....perlite or a fish bubbler??

12 cakes in a 3'x1' should be fine with either. Unless you have a CRAZY-ASS powerful bubbler, you shouldn't get too much humidity. Abhorts are just part of growing mush-mush and you'll get some whether you have perfect humidity or not. They also tend to have plenty of those magic alkaloids in them which is a plus.

If you haven't already bought the bubbler, my advice would be to just set each cake on it's own upside down jar lid full of soaked and drained verm and then set all of the cakes on a 1/2" layer of soaked perlite in the bottom of your chamber. With this set-up you should have no problems keeping your humidity ~92-94%. I have gotten plenty of ridiculously fat flushes this way. If you use the double-ended casing method that PF descibes in the PF-TEK you can really squeeze every last bit of nutrients out of your cakes.

As I said though, either should work just fine for your chamber and number of cakes. Good luck.

The cakes I did were sprayed directly with a fine mist from a hand sprayer from time to time. Water would collect on the bottom of the container from the misting and the cake sat right on the bottom as well. Things worked fine as long as I made sure there was plenty of fresh air. Good luck.
