It's [meth] just not needed.
*It's just not needed BY YOU.
You have no clue about me, my life, or what I need or don't need.
-------------------- Republican Values: 1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you. 2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child. 3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer. 4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

No offense Diploid but you sound like an addict.
edit: WHY do you NEED it? I feel this is a fair question to ask.

Nobody is talking about children here. Children should not have access to drugs.

But who draws the line between children and adult?!!!! Some cultures 12 is an adult. That is my point. I was a well informed 16 yr old years ago, or so I thought...but I wasn't. Who gets to decide who is properly informed?

To an extent. In my opinion, there should be age limitations on most things or else you are setting society up for a huge problem. You should be able to be free to make your own choices, but you should at a point in your life where you are mentally mature enough to make those said decisions and take responsibility for your own actions.
Which is why I'm not for total legalization, but regulation. Not even alcohol is truly legalized. Only at a certain age does government acknowledge your 'mental capacity' to use it, and take responsibility for anything stupid you may do to yourself or others in the process of using it.

No offense trepanib, but if an ad hominem is the best argument you can come up with, then you sound like a church person who wants to make weed illegal and prayer mandatory in public school.

I may have taken this for granted, but I felt it goes without saying that people under 18 shouldn't have access to recreational drugs, and drugs that are highly addicting should have strong adviseries against their use, but not made illegal.

trepanib, your "save the children" argument is the standard party line for all anti-drug organizations.
If you propose making meth illegal to save the children, then we have to make all drugs illegal to save the children. Including weed and mushrooms.

You aren't adressing the question what separates a child from an adult? Tell me? By saying adult in your poll you must have a criteria for children that aren't well informed? ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION.

What I need is freedom to do whatever the fuck I want so long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. The specific drug or activity is not relevant.

I think alcohol ought to be on the top of the list in the 'save the children' arguement.

what separates a child from an adult?
Whatever societal norms state at the time. There is no magic age at which someone gains sufficient maturity to do drugs, but since a number must be picked, 18 seems a fair compromise.
This is off topic. We're not debating age of consent. We're debating whether or not adults should be thrown in a government cage for doing something to their body that somebody else doesn't like.

Don't forget cigarettes, alcohol and caffeine. Plus, think how many lives are ruined due to excessive consumption of trans fats, high-fructose corn syrup, sugar, refined flour, and so on. Obviously, people cannot be trusted with these harmful substances, and we must take them away from everyone in order to protect the innocents.

So you too are deliberately refusing to read the opening post and poll in order to be obtuse?

It's not off topic. What if I'm an adult who chooses to do it and I'm not informed? Who decides what constitutes informed? If I'm informed under the societal norm is that ok?
-I honestly just want your opinion here.
