Green Mold on Cake!
    #7873679 - 01/13/08 02:46 PM (16 years, 19 days ago)

So I have a cake with about 3 mushrooms (2-4 inches each) on one side, however on the other, green mold began to grow overnight.

The mold is on the direct other side, and no one near the actual mushrooms at all. I even know that it was the soupy perlite below it that caused it. My question is, should I pick them prematurely to make sure no contams get on them, or just let them have another day or two to finish off.

I already seperated the contam one from the others, just wondering what to do now. Please don't recommend NOT to pick them, because as I said - it has came up OVERNIGHT. I just need to know if I should do it now, or later...

uh yea i would pick them now and get rid of that infected cake before mold spores go throughout your house.

why do you have soupy perlite in the first place?

My friend had four cakes with green mold. He'd suggest picking them within 24 hours, as once the mold takes hold they won't really grow much anyway. Waiting will just allow the mold to spread and multiply throughout the growing area.

Best to just call it done and get underway with your next grow.
