So uh I have a shitty fruiting chamber set up which is basicly a tub with perlite and some holes. Do I spray directly on the cakes or what?

those are actually very effective, cheap fruiting chambers and they work great for alot of people.

but yeah spray the mist up into the air over the cakes and let it rain down on top of them. you could spray directly also from like 8 or so inches away being as their cakes and cakes love to be moist.

fan them after you spray

Yea,
then you're sure they don't get the chance to dry out and produce miniature shrooms..

you don't want to spray straight down onto it....you want to spray a few feet away from it so the water vapor hits the myc and not water droplets...thats what you want.

they are cakes so it really doesnt matter to much. when i do my cakes i always pool water on the verm i put on top for the cake to absorb until i get pins then i let it be till i get fruit bodies then i keep water on top of the cakes until they are done flushing.

i always spray direclty and never have any problems..
