Seven days ago!? Holy crap! That is uber fast! I've only experienced that with Puerto Ricans. Looks like I'm going to have to pull out a TC print and get to work.

i wonder at times if all this simmmering and soaking only robs your mycelium of some of the tastier minute nutes in the skins of these things ..
Simmering is the way I prepare my grains and without I would not get the flushes that I do. When you simmer grains, you are forcing the grains to hold as much water as each grain can(every grain is different, so how can you know how much water each grain can hold? You can't, simmering makes each one hold its maximum amount of water without exploding)There is no other way that you can get that much water into each grain without it.You would have to know exactly how much water each grain holds in order to add enough water to the jar to hydrate them---->Anyone know exactly how much water 10,000 grains of millet holds--NO because each grain is different in size and what it can hold. How do you know how much water to add-How do you know that it is enough or not? You can't! That's why simmering is so beneficial to preparation. It adds as much water as it can(the grains will absorb as much as they can before bursting.
I'm sorry, didn't mean to jump your thread like this. It just bothers me when people say that they don't simmer because of this and that, when it is a fact(and also common sense) that simmering gets the grains hydrated more than any other method.Sure you can get close, but untill some one finds out what every grain of every size can hold in water, no one will know the exact amount to add.
Nice job and kudos to you, you did well.
Don't take me the wrong way, I am not downing what you did, I am just standing up for simmering and its purpose.
Good job

Are you kidding! I simmer till most of my grains explode. I LOVE MY GRAIN TO BE PLUMP AND JUICY! I find that letting them drain for 24 hours gets them perfect.
This is a pic of what I consider "Perfect".

would maximum water content in grains/seed exceed the need for maximum nutes if really all you wanted was a speedy colonization for a subsequent spawn to bulk substrate ? i mean , presuming im right about the leaching of nutes and the "beneficial" pratcice of keeping the entire process internal .. would this not be a good idea to entertain were one be looking for more expeditious results in the early stages ?
Water is the key to large flushes, some would disagree. Although nutrients feed the mycelia , it's actually the water that causes them to flush in large numbers, that's why when you fruit them you have to mist and up the humidity. Mushrooms are about 90% water, so that means they need 90% water and 10% food(relatively speaking, lol,That figure came off the top of my head so don't hold those numbers to be true-I was just making a point not a fact )

Speedy colonization depends mainly upon the strain used. I used my Pesa's(which colonise very fast)and made different jars with different amounts of nutes and water, but the damn things didn't care they still colonized very quickly except in the jars that were lacking enough water, or too much. Never had one to be effected by the amount of food present. So yes, it would.
If I understood you correctly.
EDIT = let me add, The food is consumed during the growing process. The mycelia eats the food as it goes. Meaning that the nutes aren't all consumed at the begining but it is consumed all through-out the grow. Water, on the other hand, gets consumed during the flush and has to be replaced after each flush or there may not be a second, third, or fourth flush. If there is another flush it will be small without water(misting & RH) The food is there from the beginning and will not be consumed all at once, but slowly throughout the mushrooms growth cycle, but the water has to be added just like in nature->Mushrooms fruit after the rains come. So, it is simply that the mushrooms need the water more than they need more food-relatively speaking.

but arent treasure coasties the slug of the cubensis colonization world ?
That would be incorrect(from my experience), Pesa's are rhizomaniacsVVV
My quart jars colonize completely in 6 days!

is by keeping saturation internal u lose 0 nutes
That is correct to a certain degree. You do rinse and clean your rye correct? Using WBS that has added "Bird-Cote" vitamins and minerials and only the shroom Gods know what else, is not a good idea, but if you have prepared your grains correctly, you don't have that to worry about.
To me, it is just the water issue, with you, its the food issue. The mushrooms have plenty of food to carry them through their life cycle(4-5 flushes), but they never have enough water. Mushrooms don't eat whats on the outside only, they eat the whole grain-the grain itself is the nutes-the water has nothing to do with that part. So, by adding the water to the jars does not 'keep' the nutes in the jar-they are already there. I've confused myself lol-I hope you can understand what I am saying cause it is still too early in the day for me to use my brain this hard,

Mushrooms dont worry about any nutriants that can be washed out of the food. Thats food for plants but mushrooms not so much.

nice bro, i got a batch of TC going right now. They are incredibly fast colonizers with really strong mycelial growth in my opinion. I hear they are strong....
