Doing a test on casing
    #7871648 - 01/12/08 11:56 PM (16 years, 20 days ago)

The whole casing thing has me confused. Non-nutritive or moisture holding layer? So here's what I'm doing 2 5x7 pans, both filled with one pint of colonized rye grain (from same LC). Give 3 days recolonization, then one will be cased with 50/50+, one will be cased with composted Hpoo, 24hrs in IC then to FC. Any wagers on differences of yield? Time, size, quantity?

Both.

No. Add Hpoo to the top and all you're doing is adding more sub into the mix. Want an experiment? Replace the peat in one of your casings with coir, and post those results. Hpoo, if I can venture a guess, will make a shitty casing and take longer.

Pun intended.

No, no, no, what I want is to find out is if colonized Hpoo needs casing. It's just a little experiment, nothing grand. Results may surprise, I don't know.

No substrate needs casing. If that was the case cubensis wouldn't survive on dung in the first place.it's the same deal with cakes- you're fruiting off of an uncased substrate.

You're casing a pint in one scenario, and spawning to poo in another- of course your yield will be completely different!
