PF Tek roll - pH help

So, in my other post my friend is looking for help controlling green mold contams in his fruiting chamber using FAE etc. I was looking around and saw that upping pH inhibits molds.
So, when he dunks and rolls his cakes, can he add some hydrated lime to the verm to help up the pH? If he can't find hydrated lime would baking soda work?
I read through some posts, but none of them seemed to be talking about the PF Tek, wanted to see if this same idea is able to be applied to my friends growing method.

you shouldn't need to worry about contams if the cakes are 100% colonized and then some. verm doesn't really harbor contaminants either because it's a mineral you can decide to bake your verm to kill whatever bacteria is on it for extra precaution but i've never heard of adding hydrated lime to the dunk and roll.

Ah, in my other post I go more into my friends growing history, and he has good reason to be worried about contams, even at 100% colonization. He lost every cake (done in two seperate batches) to green mold after birthing.

No if you want which I would PC the vermiculite...a whole bunch of it....but vermiculite still isn't contamm resistant but it still acts as a casing layer...contams can be from putting your cakes straight onto the perlite....or stagment air caused from not enough FAE...
Make 100-200 holes all around your terrarium and put into fruiting conditions....mist the vermiculite well...you want to do this 3-4 times each hour for 3-4 hours...put into fruiting conditions and wait.
Should really get a hair hygrometer so you know what your rH and temperature is at all times...Digital ones blow and are inaccurate
im almost positive your contams are from stagment air filling up, not enough fae, fanning

Every cake? That sounds like shitty technique to me. Re-evaluate your PC or steam sterilization procedures. You aren't contaminating all your cakes with vermiculite.

I should probably have just kept these two posts togather, but much of what's being suggested is addressed in this post.. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/7870284/an/0/page/1
thedefone - it doesn't appear it was anything he did wrong with inoculation and incubation. The jars incubated fine with absolutely no contams. Only a while after being birthed did mold appear, and some jars were incubated for over a month.
dumbfounded - I agree, I think he has this contam problem stemming from FAE issues, which are more directly addressed in the post I've linked to. I'd appreciate your feedback on the ideas presented in the other thread regarding FAE.
So, more to the point... would what I've suggested help my friend with the mold problem? Yes, there are other things that may help, but I have a seperate thread (linked now) for addressing them. I made this one to see if there's any reason to think adding a base to the casing on the dunk and roll would be beneficial in fighting mold.

your ultrasonic is giving waaaayyy too much humidity, and you do not have enough FAE... unless your house is just swarming with bacteria... you dont live in a land fill, right... haha
more holes, more fresh air, ultrasonic on a timer...
I run 2 tubs on 1 cool mist humidifier on 24/7 with lots of holes drilled, and I use pumice in the bottom of my tubs for the extra humidity boost... the cool mist will give you great FAE, as long as you got lots of holes in your tubs...
that should stop the death of cakes in your friends room
