Those were his failed attempts...
Nice start, as stated you need more in-direct light. My FC is near a window with blinds. So it gets in-direct light during sun up and sun down. In your case that might be a chanellge since you live with your parents. So you can either kill them and soak the remains in acid, or find something like a computer monitor to hid the FC by...
I wouldn't clone those guys, wait until next flush...
Please don't kill your parents.
oh i thought i read this October -6 cakes= no colonization (trash) -3 cakes= contamination (trash) -3 cakes= colonization, no contamination - 2 in terrarium at the moment - 1 fully colonized jar in waiting,i was just wondering how long they were in the FC,i just put my first 2 cakes in on friday so im trying to get a a time table for fruiting how long is to long to wait for pins

actually, i did inoculate the jars back in october...it's been a really crazy process. i have really been inhibited in maintaining a good temperature for the mycelium to effectively colonize (the whole parents thing)...in fact, i still have one jar thats about 90% colonized (from that time).
So is there any reason that the other cake is showing absolutely no sign of pinning? i soaked, dunk and rolled the same for both cakes..and it seems as if the mycelium has a pretty strong hold on the cake. Do I just need to continue exposing it to as much indirect light and FAE as possible to encourage pinning, or is there something else that I can do?

Yup, that's the best you can do... Also, don't touch them, leave 'em be.
We were both confused, we assumed you placed the cakes in the FC during Oct.

so here were my dried results, i ended up getting a little over 6g total:

alright so once i decided that my cakes were going nowhere, i decided to try something to get rid of all of my remaining supplies as i am done growing until next fall..
as stated in a former post:
"basically what i did was transform my small shoebox size terrarium from a perlite/cake growing chamber to a small tray. I layered the bottom with a bit of vermiculite, cut/crumbled the colonized cakes onto that, covered the cakes with 2 cups verm/1 cup water/1 cup BRF mixture, and cased with a small layer of vermiculite again. i know that it is most likely not going to work, or get contaminated, or produce very little if anything but i was just trying to get rid of the last of my materials in an attempt to produce a couple more fine mushrooms. I'm just beginning, and i understand that this is most likely going to be a complete failure, so don't worry about telling me that."
well that was a little over a week ago, and i have gotten some pretty good results thus far. i didn't understand that casing generally comes after full colonization of the substrate, and before fruiting. also, i was unaware of how seemingly unsuited vermiculite was as a casing material. HOWEVER, things seem to have taken a turn for the best...

So what should i do at this point? My first plan was to remove the layer of casing for the time being, but now (since the mycelium appears to be healthy and there are no visible contaminants taking hold) that seems kind of futile... should i just wait it out and allow for further colonization? or is it already time to being exposing it to even more direct light and provide for more FAE?
forgive me, i know this method is a little unorthodox..
any ideas? thanks for the help in advance.

the pics make it seem a tad gray, and it's a bit suspicious how its going nuts on only one side of the tub
wait it out and see if it takes over half of the casing layer overnight
get some peroxide and give it a misting and see if it melts

alright well some other green molds began to develop in the middle of the terrarium.. looks like trichoderma. i removed it as best as i could and misted the entire area with peroxide.
am i completely fucked or is there anything that i can salvage?
