Sterlite Tub as a FC

So I'm setting up my Frost FC, I need enough room for ten beautiful P.C cakes, and I'm thinking of using a 64 quart Sterlite packing tub with Perlite. My only concern is the fact that the lid doesn't make a very good seal. Anyone have any advice on how to make this work out better? I don't have the room to make a giant Styrofoam FC like the PF-tek I'm following says I should. If anyone would like to throw some advice my way, I'd be much obliged.

i'm having a tough time visualizing what you are talking about.. can you post some pictures of what you have?
sounds to me like you're alright..
by 'very good seal' what do you mean? like are there gaps between the lid and the tub?
it doesn't have to be 100% airtight since a little bit of air exchange is alright.. but it increases risk of contams if you dont have polyfill on it or something.. it can also negatively affect the level of humidity you are trying to achieve..
dont fck with styrofoam if you can help it. stick with plastic.

you dont need a good seal. people here use the shotgun fruiting chamber technique in which a number of holes are made throughout the fruiting chamber.

FAE is an important part of getting those "ten beautiful P.C cakes" to pin...

You could use some "D" weatherstrip on the lip or lid. As long as it still snaps closed, it will be close enough to air tight. Not that you actually want it air tight (as mentioned before), but that would be one way of doing it.

Alright, sounds good to me then. I was just concerned that I'd get too much moisture loss without a good seal. I was planning to put some holes in the sides to help with the FAE. Well, I didn't get any grave warnings of immanent failure, so I'll get on with it then. Thanks gents. I'll get pack to you when I start getting results.

If I put some micro pore tape over the holes I drill, that'll keep out a fair amount of contams, no?
