Just getting into the sport and I would like to thank ALL of you for the awsome advise! Question is,,,, I built a killer terraium and now I having trouble getting the humidity mush past 80%. I'm using a cool mist wick style humidifier with the automatic shut off function. Would it be ok to place a tub of perlite above the humidifier and below my casings to help raise the humidity level or would this cause contam? Thanks

part of your problem is your humidifier. Now maybe people have used the wick type, however the more commonly used ones, and the one I use myself is the impeller model.
and using perlite in the bottom is definitely a good idea.

That sucks, I paid $30.00 for the humidifier. Oh well better to get the right one than go through all the work and not have shrooms. Thanks for the info.

Humidifiers are for greenhouses. If you're building a terrarium, simply put three to five inches of rinsed, and then well drained perlite in the bottom, and you'll have 95% or greater humidity. RR
