Here are some new pics of mezatapecs out of a monotub of 50/50 coir straw. Substrate depth of 8 inches cased with verm. Tallest one in the pics was about 9 inches tall with over a one inch thick butt. Watered twice every day 15 sprays out of a water bottle.
The largest one was 33 grams.

Wait, you sprayed your monotub? What happened to 'set it and forget it'?
Very nice, btw.

this monotub used an incredible amout of water. The casing is about .5 inches thick. It would suck it dry in about 10 hours. These took only 4 days to mature.

Using straw and coir together in my opinion is far superior to using coir alone. It makes for a more airy substrate and faster growth. I did use coir exclusively but found that mixed substrates provide better results.
