Anyone use this jar for cakes? Is this ok? Can't see a pic of it so I'm not sure.

It says they're widemouthed, so you should be good to go. It's not like they're that expensive anyways.
Now that I'm looking closer and seeing that they're Ball jars, yeah, use them. Those are exactly what you need.

The only problem i had with canning pantry is their cost for shipping, I ended up spending 20 bucks for twelve jars, which is pretty heavy as it is. But the main thing that irritated me was that they say that the expense is for the fragility of the jars, when i open the box its a small layer of bubble wrap under the jars, and then a crumpled up roll of paper above the jars, Some expensive shipping stuff huh!
I was wandering around my supermarket, and i just glanced along the isle, they had two cases just sitting on the shelf, 6.60 each, for 12, so i snatched those up.
I understand the difficulty of getting jars, and those jars are the right jars.
Hopefully you won't be kicking yourself like i did.

I also have ordered jars from the canning pantry. They charged more for the shipping than the jars! Most stores that carry Ball jars will order what ever jars you need for you.
