I'm going to try not casing a couple colonized Hpoo pans. How would I go about triggering pinning. I wanted to try this after reading last night that coir can fruit without being cased.

Twiggs, have you ever done this? If so, how were your results as compared to casing?

Temp drop? I hope you refer to leaving it at room temp if you were incubating it during colonization, not to a cold shock.
Your main triggers are:
-Full substrate colonization -Lower concentrations of CO2 = FAE -High ambient humidity (RH) I am never sure if this is a trigger or just a requirement for pinning to happen. In any case it is necessary. - Light

it just takes time, i have had tubs fruit in 0 light and 0 FAE 3 times, soo im not quite a believer in pinning triggers. If your substrate isn't ready to fuit it won't, and when it is it will.

That is because the biggest pinning trigger, full substrate colonization, had happened.
But for wall to wall pinsets you want to have your other pinning triggers spot on.
For poo btw, put a layer of crumpled up wax paper on the surface to create a microclimate appropiate for pinning on the surface of the poo (normally the casing layer would do this)

I did try this...on straw ... Mainly cause it is a pain to get all the casing material off the fruits during harvest. check it out here... scroll down some.
Pros... It is easier to harvest, and needs almost no cleaning (at the most I had to pick a few pieces of straw. It is easier to take care of the substrate... easier to spot aborts (which were very few) and pick them.
Cons... The yield is noticeably less. I think I got one less flush. The substrate shrinks faster and more than the cased one... even though I would add some water to the tray every other day.
All in all.... I think it is better to case.

make sure that your horse poo is completely colonized...

then put into the fruiting chamber...
12/12 lighting...
lots of FAE(fresh air exchange), to where it doesn't lower your humidity level...
proper humidity level, 95% or more during pinning...
then droping the humidity to 90% to 85% after the pins have formed.
picture of an uncased horse poo grow...

If you lay some wax paper over the top of the horse poo you can get a more even pin set.
If you don't... you will get less fruits... but some might be fricken huge!~
most of my largest fruits have been on uncased and without the wax paper.
