On this week's show:
Featured New Rock Album: The American Analog Set, *Set Free* (2005)...this Austin, Texas band plays a kind of minimalist rock that then swells into quiet rocking frenzies...a good musical reference is the California band Rum Diary...music that opens the door within, lets you roam, get lost, find what harsh, find what sweet, find what mysteries...
Featured Classic Rock Album: Galaxie 500, *Today* (1988)...this Boston band made three albums in three years back in the late 1980s, created a floating dreamy sound uniquely their own, and were gone before too many people noticed...save for the amazing three albums they left behind..this how features the first one, wonderfully fully formed from its first moments ...
Storybook Time: Chapter Ten of *Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism * by Daniel Pinchbeck...
Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is The Byrds at the Monterey Pop Festival back in June 1967, this being the fourth band whose set from that festival has been broadcast on this show...returning to the airwaves for the new year, ready for 2008 to be incredible, unknown, and world-changing, at least in the visibly discernable ways...

On this week's show:
Featured New Rock Album: The Whigs, *Give 'Em All a Big Fat Lip* (2005)...this Athens, Georgia band makes fun music that rocks, a lot of guitars, some horns, great keyboards...lyrics at times straight ahead, at times trippy as you'd want...a great debut album from start to finish...
Featured Classic Rock Album: Blues Magoos, *Psychedelic Lollipop* (1966)...this Bronx, New York band released one of the first rock albums with the word "psychedelic" in the title...this is authentic acid rock, with the swirling organ, the crunchy guitars, brilliant mind candy for those inclined to taste...
Storybook Time: Chapter Eleven of *Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism * by Daniel Pinchbeck...
Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is the Stone Roses, a late 80s/early 90s UK band worked trippy rock with a ravers edge to it...2008, feel it open wide, feel it open wider, never to know if change is really happening or just excitement over its possibility...or when is change ever not happening?

On this week's 9th Anniversary Show:
Featured Album: Wilco, *Being There* (1996)...not so widely noticed in the US at least is that rock and roll music is alive and well, it never died, it never went away, it never lowered its sights or ambitions...Chicago's Wilco emerged in the mid-1990s as one of the best American rock bands of modern times, on par with the Beatles, the Stones, Dylan, you name the artist or band...this album was just their second, a 15-song rock and roll epic that turns its country leanings up to 11 on the amplifier, and occasionally slows it all down for some acoustic sweetness...if you want to know where the early 21st century's "indie" rock emerged, this is one of the half dozen albums you need to know...
Storybook Time: Chapter Eleven of *Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism * by Daniel Pinchbeck...
Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...so the wonder of having done this show for 9 years now, and webcasting around the world, and broadcasting from what is now the fourth state from which this show has originated...trying to remember back then to 1999, to Cambridge, Massachusetts, what it was then, what I was then, what now, what to come...anyway, tune in & hear the current chapter in the tale...
