I was at a corporate Christmas party a friend invited me to over the holidays. While there, she introduced me to a Muslim engineer who works with her. As the night progressed, I got into a conversation with this Muslim.
When I asked what he thought about the goings-on in the Middle East and world affairs in general, he was evasive. When I pressed for his opinion about the WTC, I finally got this reply:
"Well, you gotta do what you gotta do."
I left him alone after that.
This is not the first time I've gotten a similar response from a "moderate Muslim" living in the US, whatever "moderate Muslim" means.
Take that as you will.

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't seen moderate Muslims saying none of what is happening is the terrorists' fault.
It's a combination of a crazy, backwards interpretation of Islam and a knee-jerk reaction to a belligerent foreign policy in the Middle East by almost every world superpower in modern history. I'd be a little miffed as well.

Couldn't have said it better!

Maybe he just didn't like the implication that he has to respond for other peoples actions? When I was in Europe I got hit up by the Dutch many times about why I was in Iraq. Id usually just say, 'to kill as many people as possible while also stealing all their natural resources.' Or Id say, 'we need to wipe out the heathens' or something of that nature. Im not saying he necessarily did that, but I mean come on, its like locating the black guy at the party, 'so what do you think about Africa, all the massacres, you animals' I realize thats over the top however. If he was in fact serious, although it sounds like the shortness of his answer would imply otherwise, that still does not imply other muslims are the same way. Your sample size is quite small. Im here in the South now, I got in a conversation with a christian recently, talking about how we need to convert all the people in the middle east and wed have peace. So it goes both ways.
