This is my son?s first batch and this is also the first cake he birthed. Everything was going just spiffy with a lot of little pins forming as you can see in the picture. But just yesterday he noticed that there is a patch of blue fuzz that seems to be forming on top of the cake. I was hoping there is a safe explaination for it and not the ole "toss the cake" stuff. So if you know what it is and if there is anything that I can do to save it if it needs to be saved, I would appriciate the help. Thanks.
If the picture is too bad to tell what it is, I?ll go take another.

I had the same thing happend to my casing a couple of days ago. Just thought it was brusing. Then in about 12 hours it seemed to have consumed the entire casing. If i were you i would throw it out. Or do moes outdoor tek on it. But i would wait for other comments, maybe you can solve your problem, but i think your screwed

I'm no expert but I believe it is bruising. I think you are okay-wait a while and see if it spreads-if it doesn't that is probably what it is also do not handle the cakes-that causes the bruising

not going againest what you guys have said. But he stated it was a "fuzz" brusing dosent fuzz, it just gets discoloration in the area. I think that the blue will turn green really soon. Being this has happend to me before, and i figured it was just brusing, even after the casing was not harmed. And it quickly grew and took over everything in my terr. Resulting in the lose of 2 casings and 3 cakes. But then again, who knows, i could be wrong.

Thanks for the advice, it hasnt really grown since the last time I've looked at it, but I am keeping my eye on it none the less. I'm ready to toss it if it doesnt work out, got a few more jars ready to go anyway. Thanks again everyone.
