jobs available now in OK and AZ
    #7859796 - 01/10/08 02:19 PM (16 years, 22 days ago)

so these states have passed laws to check the legal status of a person before they can work, in OK it is a felony to harbor illegal,s

here is a good quote from some random person

"I don't want to live in Mexico. If I wanted to live in Mexico, I'd move to Mexico. I don't want Mexico coming here.

To any Hispanics (particularly Mexicans) reading this, I ask the following question. If millions of gringos entered Mexico illegally, took over entire towns and even entire regions, refused to assimilate and learn Spanish, expected Mexico to change its culture to suit us, placed heavy strains on your social welfare systems, held a huge demonstration where we waved our own flag very prominently and burned yours, how would you feel about us?

Well, that's the way we feel about you."

by Gullywumpus

EDMOND — As many as 20,000 hotel-motel workers may have left their jobs and Oklahoma in the wake of the state’s new immigration reform bill.

The numbers are not official, but Cathy Williams-White, director of the Edmond Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the loss has happened within the past month. House Bill 1804, which went into effect on Nov. 1, bars illegal immigrants from getting jobs and state benefits and makes it a felony to harbor or transport illegal immigrants.

“When you look at the major employers of Edmond, if you take out UCO and you take out the public schools, then your major employers are builders, hotel and restaurant business and all of those have a large Hispanic population,” Williams-White said.

She said that doesn’t mean all hotel-motel workers are here illegally or are all Hispanic individuals. “Many of them live with family and three out of four working members may have completed their paper work for citizenship, but one of them didn’t by the time the law took effect.”

this is 1 of the only good things to come from that farce known as 9-11

I don't hate them or have a problem with them being here, but hearing some of the reasons that others do is funny. Ridiculous even.

Regardless...

With them finding it harder and harder to get hired on, I'm excited about what it will do to the economy. The labor shortage will cause increased wages along with higher margins for the businesses that can handle the labor crunch.

Them leaving isn't good for everyone...
-Know that some businesses will go bankrupt. (not because they hire illegals, because increased labor costs for everything)

-The end consumer will pay more for everything.

well, here's my .02

I live in oklahoma, and I also live with a legal alien, who actually became naturalized last May, so he's a US citizen now.

A) I believe that the jobs the Mexicans are taking are not jobs that white people want, nor jobs that white people want to pay other white people to do. I'm talking hard fucking labor.

B) I'd rather a Mexican come to our stores and pay with CASH than some white trash to come in and pay with food stamps.

C) This new law gives cops probable cause to jail anyone who isn't white. You don't even have to be doing anything wrong! You can literally be driving the speed limit down the road, in a tagged vehicle, get pulled over and JAILED until someone can come up with documentation that you're in the states legally. My roomie has everything in an envelope, as well as his family, so he can call us in case he gets pulled over. Even providing a driver's license isn't good enough since they can be duplicated/stolen. Same for his family. If they do get pulled over, the cops can jail the parents and put the children in state care until citizenship is proved. It just gives redneck asshole cops even more of a reason to be racist assholes.

I do, however, believe that if Mexico is so bad, then they should work to improve their own country. America started off with three fucking boats of people and now we're one of the most powerful countries in the world. I'm not saying it was easy. I'm just saying it CAN be done and Mexico doesn't HAVE to be a third world country... or bring their third world country lifestyle to ours... or send our money back to their family in Mexico.

On the other hand, we all know deep inside if all the illegals were shipped back the price of EVERYTHING will fucking skyrocket.

It's a really touchy topic.

If the individual is legal, they can sue for discrimination. "You sayin because I'm brown I must be an illegal alien?"

The police can not pull someone over simply for being hispanic.

This is one of the main problems employer's face. Many illegals provide false documents and are hired. After you hire someone you fill out an I-9 form. The IRS will notify an employer if the SS# on the I-9 doesn't check out. That's usually when employer's begin to suspect them, but it's not proof. If the employer fires them and they're legal, it's discrimination. Unless that companies employee handbook specificly addresses how to handle incorrect SS#s and they're legal, it's discrimination.

If you have brown skin, that's a pretty good scam.

^^^
Most employer's are very very scared of this scenario and feel the government has left them to enforce laws the government can't enforce.

I dont hate them, I'm sure many are good people, unfortunately like with cuban
refugees it is mostly criminals that cross the border, now as for the
arguements, I hear a lot from the illegals and their supporters about how they
have come to america t make a better life for themselves, why dont they just do
that in mexico, I mean it takes $8000 USD to buy passage from a coyote, they get
here and many get deported only to go back, pay a coyote again and return

A better life, would you believe that your life is improving because you left
your home to move to another country without your family, now suppose you're
sending most of your money back home, how much better is your life.

do you feel it's right to 'improve' your life if it's costing other families their way of life

actually the consumer will only pay what the market will support, when was the
last time inflation didnt happen, everyone mentions how much the costs will go
up because cheap labor will have ended, did the prices drop or stagnate when the
illegals were hired? did they drop when gas came down, no, prices only go up and
these companies that hire the illegals simply pocketed the extra

Extra... think about how much these companies are making through the use of
illegal aliens, they no longer have to pay workers comp, they dont pay out for
retirement accounts, or pay into your SSI, they no longer have to offer any
benefits, how much do you think they are pocketing now that they've cut out everything that encourages americans to work

how much again have the consumers saved because all these companies are hiring illegals?
How many reductions in the inflation rate have there been in the last 20 years?

it's really not that hard to get into the u.s.

they dont have to spend $8000. i dont even think its $8000 to get a work visa.

they take a bus and get dropped off in san antonio i've seen it before..

we were sitting there getting gas.. a HUGE bus pulls up and close to 100 mexicans get out and stand by the gas station.. then the bus drives off.. they were in line for the pay phone.

i'm not even shitting you.

i have mexican friends.. like actually from mexico.. i dont have a problem with their people.

a lot of people dont realize how fucked up it is and actually how many mexicans there are in places like san antonio..

they come over and floods and are essentially poor and our economy has to support them.

i'm not talking about hispanic americans im talking about mexicans.

go to any outlet mall on i-35 between the border (laredo) and dallas and you'll see exactly what im talking about. every other license plate is from mexico.. if not the majority.

none of you notherners give a shit because you dont have to deal with it, but come to texas and it's a very real issue.

if they want to come over here, there are legal ways to do it and it pisses me off to no end that there are so many illegals. i have no problem if they want to come over here legally... fill out the paperwork.. get a work visa.. something. a lot of hispanic americans feel this way too.

my good friend (who happened to trip on salvia hardcore last night.. actually i had 3 chicks in my room which was pretty cool but that's beside the point) is trying to get a student visa and it's a complicated process, but it's legal. she probably hates the illegal spics and much as i do.

y'all in cali know what i'm talking about too!

federal law requires employers to verify 2 forms of ID, a Social Security card
is also required, if the employer doesnt get these documents then he's at fault,
if the SSN doesnt match up on the I-9 form, the employer is at fault for not
verifying the information, being that most states are right to work states they
can fire you for no reason what so ever. if they're fired for the color of their
skin, it's discrimination, if because of their nationality, their religion or
sex, it's discrimination, not because the employee is too dumb to fill out his I-9

hispanic american = american of hispanic descent

mexican = either illegal immigrant, someone working on obtaining citizenship, or citizen of mexico.

I don't think states should be writing or enforcing immigration laws.

funny you should say that... I have cherokee blood in me.

not sure how much, but I have a little card where i can have free healthcare.

and trust me, with the indian free healthcare you get what you pay for.

I think I can also get money for college and they like pay your down payment/closing costs of a new house... but it may only be houses in certain areas.

I dunno, I need to look into it.
