Hey guys, So i'm looking to get a new PC as my old one is unusable. What size (in Quarts) are people using? I'm seeing sizes from 4 Quarts to 23 Quarts and a million different brands. All American looks like one of the best, but I would like to sat around $100 is possible. Thanks in advance. S

I picked up a 12qt mirro from a thrift store for $10... it will hold 7 1qt jars at once... Don't know how many half pints I could cram in there but I bet it would be in quite a few...

You bastards don't know how lucky you are. I live outside the US and had to spend weeks making phonecalls and visiting shops to find a pressure cooker that went up to 15psi (most go up to 10 ere) . And then, the only two places that had them one only went up to 10 liters (10.5 quart) and the others went up to 80 quarts but were industrial cookers and costed a bomb.
So I ended up paying €153 (probably over $200 with exchange rates as they are) for a 10 quart PC. But then, it is a beautiful little thing made in stainless steel.

I had the same problem, took me a month to find a 15 psi one. Most dont even state on the box.
Uk is so expensive so i had to go with a 5 litre high dome one. 4 1/2 pints or 8 if you stack them.
But i dont grow in huge quantities so it does me plenty.

An All American is an investment in this hobby, not an expense. It pays for itself in no time by helping you avoid the hassle other pressure cookers will give you,as far as size goes the bigger the better
My All American can hold 10 at a time and I always wish I got a larger one when I'm making up a big batch and have to make 4 pressure cooker runs all night long....It hurts the pocketbook at first but its well worth it if you plan on sticking with this hobby for any length of time

But when AA's aren't available, you're fucked.
Some day I'll pay the 600 dollars it will cost me to buy and ship a nice big AA pc, (or visit the states and bring one back with me) but not at the moment

I think it's weird how other countries don't seem to have the most mundane and everyday shit. What's up with that? Don't you guys eat canned food over there?

I live in one of the few countries in Europe where most households own a pressure cooker, but not for canning, but for cooking stuff like lentil, bean or chickpea stews. Because of that the PCs regularly available are small size 4-8 quarts and only cook at 10psi.
Canning is done by pouring the boiling stuff to be canned in the jars then cooking them bain marie for a while and closing while hot. They then are used or very soon or any jars that haven't kept the vacuum due to fermentation or whatever are tossed.

Check out the range in the UK
The biggest I can get is 7 litres!!!! That fits 4x500ml (pint) jars....I have to adjust procedure to fit.
