The Notebook Project

After reading the thread about keeping two $200 for two weeks, I decided I'm going to try out the whole keeping tabs on everything I spend deal.
I'm going to carry a small notebook with me, or at least keep a piece of paper in my wallet (my wallet goes with me EVERYWHERE) if I can't be carrying around a pocket notebook. Every item I purchase I will write down with the price, down to the penny, next to it. Food, cigarettes, beer, bets, fines, everything. The only stuff I won't keep tabs on are bills (the only bills I have are cell phone and my school dues since I live in university housing my housing and utilities is included in my tuition.)
A month from now (well, I guess tomorrow since that's when I'll start) I'll post in this thread what I bought (for example cigarettes x 5 - $30) and the grand total. The reason for me posting this is it will help me have a sense of accountability and humility. I also thought maybe it'd be an interesting thing for those of you who are willing to share this information publicly could join in.
If anything I guess this is more of a pledge to myself than anything, but I thought it would be interesting to share, and interesting to show some people exactly how much the average college student wastes.

I do the same thing. Instead of handwriting everything, its easier to get receipts and then at the end of each day, document everything that way.

In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption" "People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

I just use a credit card.
It keeps track of everything AND gives me 1% cash back.
