Newest Harvest - Mexican in Coir - 1st Flush

Spores to Rye in Qt. Jars, then spawned to those plastic shoe boxes in Wally World. I tried a new bulk substrate formula:
Approx. 85% Coir, 10% Coffee, 3$ hydrated lime 2% Poultry Manure
the uneven fruiting is from my laziness, overlay I didn't take care of when it happened.

They are nice and fat where they are fruiting...
Are you sure that your RH is high enough? Are you misting regularly? Usually pinsets that occur just around the sides of a tray would indicate that there is insufficient moisture, and the pins are forming where RH is the highest (sides of the container.)
I noticed that the sides of the box have droplets on them, but that doesn't necessarily indicate high RH, especially if you're using a coolmist as your means of humidifying the chamber (or if the temperature is cooler outside the chamber than inside the chamber.)

looks good aside from the lack of pins in the middle
I'm going to have the same problem myself methinks, but that's from not applying my casing very evenly

Remember that this grow is from SPORES. So no pinning in the middle may not be down to humidity or dry casing layer.
Good word

no.
its due to the lack of mycelium penetrating the casing layer therefor not providing start point for hyphae to form primodia. thats the reason.

So have all of my grows. I haven't yet ever isolated a strain that has lead to a successful grow.
I've probably just gotten REALLY luck though. All of the tubs I've ever done pin over the entire surface of the cake/casing... some just have better pinsets and healthier fruits than others.

look, does it appear like overlay ? no. it was due to poor penetration.

Living in the urban area that I do I am FAR from an authority on poultry manure but it I remember what I have read about it correctly it should only be used in small amounts cause it is so high in nitrogen that it will burn your substrate

I do use a RH analog meter inside, but can't get above 80% RH due to the humidifier I use. I'm in a 'cold and dry' environment this time of year. I did mist and fan regularly ( at least twice a day ) using tap water and about 1% HydPerox.
I'm dunking now and will re-case and see how the 2nd flush goes.
Now that I look back, on my last coir grow, I used trays that were only about 1 1/2 inches deep, and had the same uneven fruiting. 2nd flush wasn't impressive. I'm hoping with these deeper tubs the 2nd will be at least as productive as the 1st.

EDIT: I made a video of the harvest and put it up if anyone wants to critique it:
I'm fairly sure that the unpatched overlay causes the uneven distribution.
As far as where to get poultry manure, I got mine from a garden center.

why would you suggest drying the shrooms in a box for days on end when everyone knows that 24hrs fan drying followed with 24hrs of a desiccant chamber is the best way to dry them?

Would cutting the shrooms not leaving tissue that could rot?? I have always read that you genlty twist and pull the shrooms out, then cover ane divets with fresh casing.
Nice music track!
