It is critical that you describe mushrooms fully and accurately in order to get a proper identification.
A good picture of the mushrooms is invaluable, but not required. Along with the pictures YOU ARE REQUIRED to provide the following data:
* Habitat (where [woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude] and what [soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?)] does it grow on) * Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc) * Characteristics of the stem (length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc) * Characteristics of the cap (diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc) * Spore print color (very important!) * Color that the mushroom bruises * Scent of the mushroom * Anything else you might find important
For a template ID request please see this thread.
For more detailed guidelines for describing your finds, please view this document.
For an explanation of mycological terms please refer to this document .
Im interested in what mushroom you want ID'd though, try uploading the pic again. Click on the picture of the mountain and the sun above the reply box and click 'Upload' Then after its up, copy the UBB code into the thread.
It won't be active but i love seeing mountain mushrooms.

Hey ive manged to get them allowable. I wasnt even looking for mushrooms i was on a mountain bike ride about an hour out in the bush, and it just appeared.
It was solitary growing out of leaves beside a track. In a shady spot. The area around was slighly sandy. And rocky. The stem was hollow (about the size of a matchstick) Didnt take any measurments as i couldnt post pics anyway and i knew it wasnt active. I was just keen to do my first spore print. Heres some pics for you undergrounder

Tryptamines ay? Have any luck?
cheers

Umm, well, it does look like an Amanita or a Leucoagaricus, but a closer look at the base might clear that up. I usually get thrown off when the basal bulb is not separable, since some Leucoagaricus have an enlarged base...

Thanks man, nice photos... it looks a lot like a lot of mycorrhizal species that are associated with Eucalyptus. No doubt CC is correct, some kind of small Amanita or similar. There's a massive diversity of Amanitas in Aus.
