There is not going to be an accurate description of the psychedelic experience that is condensed to one sentence, in fact a 20 page paper wouldn't even do it justice.

Many different types of mushroom trips ive found.
Sometimes it will be the funniest day of your life.
It will almost ALWAYS be very confusing (Especially if you smoke pot on it)
The first few times you are mainly fascinated with the colourful visuals and how life is given to inanimate objects. And the complex mathematical fractals your mind is projecting on the inside of your eyelids.
You find yourself Thinking about every single aspect of your life as a different person.
You hear voices in your head. Can hear your thoughts. And your sure there is someone inside of you.
You see the 'fake' in people VERY clearly. Notably blond girls and egotistical people.
Drunk people antics are almost frightening and when they stumble into you, you panic. This is why party shrooming is a no no.
"They show you the beauty of... very simple things"
Make you realize that your body and mind are separate.
All these things are happening at once for about 4 to 5 hours. Some people dont expect it and get scared producing a bad trip. It happens to the best of us so start low as at low doses the chaos is toned to almost nil. The euphoria and minor visuals are present. At higher doses these aspect enhance but so do the others and at about 4 to 5 grams and up, the visuals can almost be consumed entirely by the other aspects. Now I dont mean to make it sound bad by any means, this is indeed lots of fun and the lowest I shroom is 5 grams (most of the time). Tripping varys greatly from one trip to another and a high dose is almost like a completely different drug compared to a low dose.
Happy Tripping. You will come back no matter how bad it gets and you will have a much better understanding of yourself. Sorry I couldn't do it in one sentence.

I'm going to have to agree completely, 100% with ultimo101.
I think he's got the description down pretty good.
But seriously, experiencing it will blow any written description out of the water, by far.

Funny. I thought the emphasis was to convey what tripping was like. Not some silly "one sentence" requirement. I doubt he phrased it like that because when he wants to explain to his friends they're going to say "Okay, but only if you tell us in one sentence!"

depends on dose. in my experience, in sexually analogous terms:
too little: like getting groped. uncomfortable. just enough: making out with your hottest crush. thrilling, sweet, arresting, invigorating in the middle: intense, sweaty, but not particularly great sex with somebody you're not sure you like, perhaps yourself. big dose: getting your brains fucked out by the lord god almighty until you die, getting reincarnated a thousand times, then getting resurrected as your old self, only different. and grateful for it.

she thought he was insane but understood. you cant describe it, like all of you know, but if you HAVE to, i do like mindgorillas response.

C'mon how can we possibly put an experience in words that for the most part is ineffable?
"When you trip, you become aware that the Universe is one big cosmic joke that you're not quite getting. Sometimes you may think the joke's on you and that can open the gate to Hell. When you realize the Cosmos is laughing with you and not at you, the golden gate to Paradise opens wide."
Something like that? OK heres another.
"When you normally perceive the world, there's the sight and sound of things and in the background your mind is running. When you are tripping, your inner world takes over and becomes greatly magnified. Then, the world becomes a background phenomena and you realize it's been your mind's show all along as the world can be warped and altered to match your inner processes."
Sounds intense? Holy crap man, you have no idea how intense it can be.

imagine life is a tv show or a movie. you've always watched the tv show in a small black and white screen with some shitty mono speakers. but when you're tripping you see the show in a 100 inch HDTV plasma with mega surround sound. the show's the same but you can now see things you've never seen before and the show looks fresh and awe inspiring.

Tripping is like realizing that all your life you have been ardently creating rules for yourself that you didn't even know about, and that now, having seen the process, you can fix your rule book, and dissolve the old rules in a soup of hilarity and sacral beauty, and construct new ones on a forge powered by the fire of love, devotion, and strength, secure in the knowledge that there is no reason to be afraid!
and you totally see stuff and bug out!

One finds oneself in a waking dream where all movement, sound, and texture mirrors one's own inner processes, where the sun and the moon rend one apart and lucid awareness flows out, where agape love smooths rough edges like rocks eroding in the riverbed, where one bursts forth from the sticky cocoon of expectation into the night, and sits quietly breathing as day breaks...

i have a few
A dark green energy flowed through the plants of the jungle. From one plant to another like an electrical circuit.
This electricity lit up the personality traits of each plant, who were all curiously observing my presence. The similarity between all linked together in a organic machine.
The vines twisted around the gears of time, melting away matter at each moment. Symbols of divine at every turn, a mysterious energy surges through my soul, teasing me with ancient knowledge.
Natural occurrences happen split seconds after imagining them. A psychic connection into the organic system. Blood veins like roots carrying water, I'm an unnatural presence. Natural fertility is my energy, and it fuels my internal roots.
The euphoric electricity sizzles when a hypnotic feminine essence, crosses my senses path. Spiritual intertwining when both minds think the same fantasy. Aura glistening like a jewel in the sun, a glimpse into the eyes of a goddess.
There's no explanation for the effects of mushrooms. You are not seeing hallucinations, but rather visions of things that are all around you, on different dimensional wavelengths. The nature of this mushroom is death, and all aspects of the experience circle around the concept. Good and evil appear simultaneously, as one spiritual being. A ying yang spirit, whispers ancient secrets into my brain.
I am part of an every consciousness, and im the cells of a higher being, as is everything i can perceive around me. I get the great sense that i am being watched by playful, enlightening spirits that are glad i can to drop into their frequency of dimension.
Visions of space, the sun and moon, and alien species jolt into my senses as i peer into the electrified sky. My former best friend looks down on me from the spirit world, manifesting my vision to see glimpses of his spiritual shell.
Any pupil in a connection into the spiritual world, and a connected to any human beings mind. After jumping into the psyche of a few individuals, i have a higher sense of wisdom, as if i am learning from others without listening.
Concepts are drilled into my head, and shown before my eyes. Transcending beings comfort me along the way, tickling my senses. Eye's of all species, and colors pierce into my peripheral vision, whenever a spirit wanders by.
Lucidity hits me instantaneously, as i enter my subconscious. Hallways manifested from my memories, and fantasies intertwined with my thoughts at the time, fade and smear, as i traverse through a tunnel of hallucinations at light speed. Time is meaningless, and things are never what they seem. Evil spirits persuade, and mask themselves, and weave into my path as nightmares.
I am quick to react, and can sense the auras i wish to pursue, in this surreal environment. My intellect is my best tool, upon the split second of thought- doorways to new scenery appear....
Indoor forests, and school classrooms in space.
I enter each room with curiosity, spinning on a wheel on environments. I see familiar faces, morph into new familiar faces, or objects. Complete peace at mind, as well as a sense of lucidity propels me across my fantasies.
My third eye senses all that happens around me,as i am unconscious. A simple jolt, causes me to wake up into this reality, i am writing from.

This is the scenario I would explain to someone who has never tripped.
Your locked in a room, completely chained up. A man tells you that you are about to be raped by another man. Yes, homosexual rape. You know your time for butt sex is only minutes away...but then a beautiful girl walks in and is like "We were just kidding, you get to have sex with me", and then you two high five and do it.
That's what tripping is like.

Your first trip is like finding a place in your head, like no place that could exsist on Earth and then the distinct seperation from the happiness of a childhood christmas morning to the mundane: acting out a normal human life with a full knowladge of the almighty.

I couldn't describe tripping in just 1 sentance. Hell, I dont know if I could describe it to someone where they would get a good understanding of it in 1 hour. I think one just has to eat a few caps and find out for ones self. Advice: 'trip with a pal' (someone you trust) & try to be someplace where there is little or no chance of running into the fuzz.

I just quote Erowid and Wikipedia when I try to describe drug experiences, seeing as they both try to give an unbiased view of the effects.

Mushrooms can be very emotional. Tickled by your own skin, laughing till you cry at nothing.
For example, the other week I had to turn off Bladerunner because I couldn't handle it. It was just too funny. No, it's not a comedy. And I wasn't laughing at it either. I don't know what was so funny now. Doesn't matter. Don't take yourself too seriously. That's what that trip was like. But, every trip is different.

Some of these explanations are fairly good.

Tripping is a place where your senses melt together, memories, emotions, and sensory stimulus intertwine, and dreams are played out while more awake than you've ever been.
Warning: Tripping has also been known to induce hysterical and lengthy bouts of laughter.

A tripping experience will vary on the individual, it can be enlightening, cheap fun, pure horror depending on the individual's state of mind and what he/she wants to get out of it.

can't describe it in a sentence, probably couldn't describe it in a book. effects on me: thoughts of a higher power, thankfulness that i'm alive and get to experience this reality every day, i dwell on the possibility of an after life, thoughts of things i should change about me or if i'm really not headed in the right directions. o yea, and visual hallucinations, thats just a plus though to everything else it gives me.
