Oyster Shell in BRF Jars?
    #7851568 - 01/09/08 12:07 AM (17 years, 12 days ago)

I heard some oyster shell was good nutrition for myc. I put about 4 tables spoons or maybe up to a quarter cup into BRF and verm and spread it to 20 jars that Im about to inoculate. If anything, was this a bad move?

I add a small amount of gypsum, but I wouldn't use calcium carbonate in grain jars. It will swing the pH high.

Yup. I add coffee to grains, partly to lower the pH. Mushroom mycelium grows fastest at pH about 5.5 to 6.5.
