I was reading a book by one of Freud's students yesterday and he made the statement that as a psychologist and a therapist he was just as neurotic as many of his patients. He just had more self knowledge. He then wrote down his stream of conscious thoughts without censor for about three pages and it was full of neurotic shit and worse. I was impressed by his honesty.
We all share the same challenge as humans. Don't ever forget that. Don't think you're alone in the soup and struggle because everyone, is, as far as I know, mucking around with us in there. We all are working on the same stuff. How to be happy, find love, feel love, handle fear, worry, pain. How to handle all the changes that life will throw at us all. Find meaning. It's not just you and it's not just me. It's all of humanity.

-------------------- “Strengthened by contemplation and study, I will not fear my passions like a coward. My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

yes yes of course but there is something to be said for managing a nice garden fertilizing and watering when it needs it, arranging for freedom of movement, beauty and inspiration planting seeds when it is spring and harvesting when it is fall I wish more people were gardeners, but yes it is the same mud we are made of

so... Im not unique? it isnt that I am misunderstood, but rather so self absorbed in my life that I never noticed that everyone else was just like me and had the same problems, probably even the same delusions of individualism/complexity/uniqueness?
you mean the majority of us live our lives subjectively, rather than objectively?

I grew up with gardens and majored in organic horticulture. Now I don't even have space here for much but a few flower pots. I miss a big garden.

lol. I picture a camo clad, spade bearing man frantically hopping suburban fences and eradicating monkeygrass and leaving petunias in his wake.
