Wild bird seed not to sure?

This is my first time using wild bird seed and before i go ontop the next step i just want to make sure i did it right. I read that you need to buy seed with the most white millet in it cause thats what it grows best. When i went to the store i found just white millet so i thought i would try that since it was cheap. I then spawned a few out of a syringe following all the necessary procedures. Similar to the rye tek that RR has in his videos, my jars have all began to grow and when they were 70% colonized i shook them. However when i did this they seem to have stuck together to look like the fill my jar now so i decided to say whatever just space to grow in. Now what it comes down to is that I See pics of other peoples jars and the mycelium is all around the outside of there cakes and mine do not seem to be acting like that so I was wondering if maybe something is wrong or perhaps they are ready already i am not sure like i said i am new at this. This is a pic of one of the jars any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I will be keeping a log of this just see the do's and donts for next time. Thanking in advanced

you're alright.. just keep it in your incubator and give it more time..
you're not fully colonized yet.
as far as i can tell from that picture, you look like you're doing alright.
the reason it 'stuck together' was because (it appears that) you have filled the jar completely.. you are supposed to fill it about 3/4 or so in order to give you room to shake it and to make it easier to get out when you are fully colonized.. but i dont think it's going to be a major problem.. maybe just take longer than most.

ok cool thanks alot ya i filled the jars about 3/4 full so there was 1/3 of the jar had empty space just when i shook it ended up like that for some reason with big air pockets in the jar. So i will let it sit longer before i do anything else with it thanks alot drkrobotnik

well if that's the case.. maybe try knocking it down.. gently.. to the level it was at before and see how that goes.

I don't recommend knocking it down.. gently. Those jars plain and simply are "overfilled". Not to worry,(it happens to the best of us in the beginning). At this point, just let them incubate and colonize. LEAVE THEM ALONE! Large air pockets will do better by allowing the mycelium to run through the grain with ease. Squished and tightly compacted seed will hinder the thorough colonization of the jar. So don't shake them any more and for God's sake, don't Knock it down gently, (compacting the seed). Here is a pic of some jars colonizing... The bottom right one is almost ready while the top three are about a day behind. Notice the "loose" grain.
