ID help on cubie

HEy everyone, i think i have my first cubie almost positive. I live in gulf coast area of texas. Got the mushroom out of cow manure, the manure was old not fresh. IT did bruise blue on the stem and now that its dried and i handled it a little more it is almost all blue/dark blue, but there are still some areas fading to white. The stem is kind of a golden brown/dark brown up top fading to a golden brown/caramel to the edges with the edges bluing. The gills are now dark brown after drying the were light brown fresh. The spore print is a purplish brown, you can deffinitely make out the purple. The only thing that gets me is that there wasnt a veil on the stem when i found it, just remnants, small ones, on the edges of the cap. Also i heard that they can vary in appearance just a little bit, but im 99% sure its a cubie, i ate a smaller one that was right next to it and its been over two days and i did not get sick or anything, so i beleive its safe. I will post a pic ASAP to help, but someone confirm everything i have points to a cubie.

Ok thanks, i beleive it is a gulf coast cubie, almost positive, but i ate a little one identical minus the size and i am fine. It brusies blue, and i have researched all cube look-a-likes and poisonous and the only one that looks like a cubie has a rusty brown spore print, so i eliminated that species. Thanks for the quick replly and the welcome. Do cubies vary that much in the wild, i have seen so beautiful cubies but im sure that they dont all turn out that way, correct?

I live near you and can vouch for the natural variations in outdoor cubes especially in this area. If you want, look for my Never say never... cubes found in mulch thread and check out the extreme variations within the same patch.

I love that thread! I found one in my flowerbed just outside my front door about a year 1/2 ago. I had just added some mulch from the local garden center. Crazy.
