The fertilizer in it will often cause algae to grow on the perlite. Other than that, it works fine. RR

can the possibility of algae be mitigated by the introduction of H2O2?

Damp paper towels work, but you have to change them regularly. If you'll look at places beyond walmart and lowes, I'm sure you can find plain perlite. RR

Okay, im not quoting you RR but i believe ive read a post Of yours saying non-coarse perlite is unacceptable (not sure when), but unless there Is different grades of the miracle brand stuff (which i believe there is not) Ive been using miracle grow and not getting results, with a correctly built SG (i believe rh is my problem, I know you said to smash it to bits, but my calibrated anologue hygro never reads above 92 And my cakes are trying out fast.) and members are telling me i my problem is the miracle grow Grade being too fine. Any words to help settle my inquiry, sir?

I used lava rock, sterilized with H2O2. Costa Rican cubes seemed to love it.

This thread is over 7 years old.
RR ducked out and has been gone for 4 months.
Peroxide has no function other than combatting Cobweb mold.

Well, after checking your first two [smart-arsed] links, I see that you, yourself, haven't checked your own links.

Your confusing sterilize with sanitize possibility.
Ive wasted too much time as it is. Start a thread that says trash your PC for peroxide and vinegar and see how it goes.

I wish someone would have rold me that H2O2 was bad for my cubes before I grew my last three batches using it.
But, okay, I'll stop.

It can be beneficial when combating some molds but I know you didn't sterilize anything like an autoclave, pressure cooker or torch would.
Next grain prep you do hydrate the grains with H2O2 then jar/bag it up since at that point (in your eyes) its sterilized.
See how it grows.
