I acknowledged that cops often lie, but in this case they have no reason to. They had a warrant. They found 120 plants. Cops frequently execute warrants without finding what they're looking for, with no repercussions, so why lie about finding stolen property that they aren't even charging this couple for (yet)?

they could have been tipped off about the stolen property so they could get on the property with probable cause and find what they were really after.
warrants for stolen property gives them probable cause and someone has narced them out

Could be. But why lie about finding stolen property once they had found the plants?
It sounds to me like they arrested the son for the robbery at the construction site, and either the son, or possibly an accomplice on the construction site theft, cracked under pressure from the police, and let it slip that they had stashed some of the stolen goods at the parents house.

cops presume the worst in every case against us
they use the smallest of motives and circumstances to make us out to be public enemies to put us away even when they know we might be innocent of any crimes
why not we?
