(my hope is that you might post some as well Be sure give enough info so interested readers like me can find the music)
There's No Way Out of Here -David Gilmour
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took There are no boundaries set, the time and yet you waste it still
So it slips through your hands like grains of sand, you watch it go There's no time to be lost, you'll pay the cost so get it right There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good
And never was there an answer, there an answer Not without listening, without seeing
There are no answers here, when you look out you don't see in There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good

David Byrne - Civilization lyrics
Somewhere between the darkness and light Faces all glow but it's not too bright Civilization, it's all about knives and forks
Isn't she here? What time is it now? Is this the right place? Do I fit with her crowd? I'm gonna be a civilized man someday
Part of me wants to jump and shout Part of me wants to tear it down I thought you might prefer the cabernet
Civilization, it's all about sex Havin' a ball in a padded banquet I'm gonna be that really cool guy someday
The waiter looks me over Would you like cream or sugar? I don't know - what was I supposed to say
She wonders if I'll notice I should have brought some roses Her plate is full, she hasn't eaten all day
Glasses collect we order some booze She looks at me, I stare at her shoes Mature situations, maybe a broken heart
Maybe I ought to pay the bill Maybe she thinks I never will A million things that cross a woman's mind
Just be yourself, well that's what they say I barely know who I was yesterday I'm gonna be that civilized guy someday
Good friends and conversations The rise and fall of nations A moments glory and they've had their day
And on my high school folder I drew a big gorilla Something familiar, something far, far away
Somewhere between the darkness and light She touches my hand, she don't seem to mind
We can go home, we can be civilized

The problem is
The problem is
The future is not what it was
The problem is
The problem is
You kill my cat, I'll kill your dog
I'm spitting blood
I'm counting sheep
I'm dressed for dinner
I want to eat
I want the placemat
Placed out neat
I want the waiter to kiss my feet
I don't care which way the wind is blowing
I have no idea which way I'm going
I'm getting tired of the up high low
I'm getting tired of the up high low
The problem is
The problem is
Some people wise
Some other ways
The problem is
The problem is
I say I'm fine
But I'm really going blind
I don't care which way the wind is blowing
I have no idea which way I'm going
I'm getting tired of the up high low
--------------------
All this time I've loved you And never known your face All this time I've missed you And searched this human race Here is true peace Here my heart knows calm Safe in your soul Bathed in your sighs

Frank Zappa - Heavenly Bank Account
And if these words you do not heed Your pocketbook just kinda might recede When some man comes along and Claims godly need He will clean you out right through your Tweed
Thats right, remember there is a big Difference between kneeling down And bending over... Hes got twenty million dollars In his heavenly bank account... All from those chumps who was Born again Oh yeah, oh yeah
Hes got seven limousines And a private plane... All for the use of his Special friends Oh yeah, oh yeah Hes got thousand-dollar suits And a wembley tie... Girls love to stroke it While hes on the phone Oh yeah, oh yeah
At the house of representatives Hes a groovy guy... When he gives thanks He is not alone...
He is dealin He is really dealin Irs cant determine Where the hook is
It is easy with the bible To pretend that Youre in show biz
They wont get him They will never get him For the naughty stuff That he did
It is best in cases like this To pretend that You are stupid
Hes got presidential help All along the way
He says the grace While the lawyers chew Oh yeah They sure do
And the govenors agree to say: Hes a lovely man! He makes it easier for Them to screw All of you... Yes, thats true!
cause he helps put the fear of god In the common man Snatchin up money Everywhere he can Oh yeah Oh yeah
Hes got twenty million dollars In his heavenly bank account You aint got nothin, people You aint got nothin, people You aint got nothin, people Thank the man...oh yeah

David Byrne - Why lyrics
I don't have any philosophy Why do I know what I know? I see the world in a coffee cup And when I drink it down there I go
We have our own kind of universe Sometime but not always true How come? Wait! Maybe I think it is The view is very nice and it's big through and through
I got skills and I got secrets, I can part my hair I feel an empty space where love could be In adjoining universes Touching here and there I stick my head outside and I can see - that
Particles spin 'round a nucleus Planets encircle the sun Further out there is the Milky Way The coolest part of all cracks me up, Ev'rytime
Life isn't really miraculous It had to happen this way We had to meet in this checkout line Explain it as a simple twist of fate But we can't - be - sure

Group: Eyedea & Abilities Album: First Born Song: Well Being.
[Eyedea] Take a deep breath there's nothing to be afraid of What you just did was fall to the depths of existence The place the mind keeps you away from by it's own process of building models for understanding This is not insanity, this is in fact the ultimate reality The union you've achieved is only possible in thoughts no more You never fall if you never fight
[background] You never fall if you never fight
[repeat 2X] You found yourself falling into madness so you dove The best thing you ever did was let go
[repeat 2X] I found myself falling into madness so I dove The best thing I ever did was let go
[Eyedea] See life is a play that we are always acting out without ever seeing it from the writers or audiences point of view When we reach infinity we become the writer the actors and the audience at the exact same time
So here you are, and now you understand
You always were here, that's why you always ran
But you can only run away for so long
Before you catch up with yourself and become part of the song
I'd like to welcome you, to the heaven you've created
I tell the truth, this is the wisdom of the ancients
Holding onto something contradicts or being, so fly free {*repeat 4X*}
Maybe I had to go crazy to get where I am
I felt myself slipping away and I let myself fall
Gotta lose your mind before you find it
And when you finally find it you'll find out you never lost it at all
There's a natural flow, that's attached to the soul
It don't ask you to go, it just gradually pulls
It's always now and your never not you
So follow yourself because if nothing else your existence is true
[Chorus] have you ever felt yourself slipping away? I am, I mean, I was slipping away but no matter what I am I'm me, and I know me so I'm ok have you ever felt yourself slipping away? you are, I mean, you were, slipping away but no matter what you are you you, and you know you so your ok
[Eyedea] I'm not a poet or a communist, a comet or a star
You're not a genius or a prophet, you just are
I'm not insane cause I have no need for my sanity
It's just another chain that keeps me from reality
Reality is mine to play with and mold
the best thing I ever did was let go
So let go of the models transcend the physical mind
and peacefully become part of the whole
The walls came tumbling down, but this time it was for keeps
I've been runnin around, lookin for my feet
And now their part of the ground, and make the ground complete
Live in the now and forever be at peace
Live in the now don't stray away from the cycle
I'm one with the universe, one with the life flow
When you know that that which is below is above
the fear you once had will become love (feel the love)
[Chorus]
[Eyedea] It starts out with a question. how much of it is real?
Now all is irrelevant, outside of this ordeal
Don't worry about explainin it there ain't no human language
that can actually describe exactly how you feel
Now I see clear, through external distractions
Piece by piece it comes together, so I laugh and I smile
In the beginning it was deranged
But I guess all things come to pass, after awhile
If madness could have a picture face how would it look?
like step one to becoming the contents of your own book?
Right where you are right now is where your gonna stay
And as long as you're always moving with yourself you'll, never slip away
If you like the lyrics, I suggest you check the album out. It's Hip-Hop

Leonard Cohen "The Future"
Give me back my broken night my mirrored room, my secret life it's lonely here, there's no one left to torture Give me absolute control over every living soul And lie beside me, baby, that's an order! Give me crack and anal sex Take the only tree that's left and stuff it up the hole in your culture Give me back the Berlin wall give me Stalin and St Paul I've seen the future, brother: it is murder.
Things are going to slide, slide in all directions Won't be nothing Nothing you can measure anymore The blizzard, the blizzard of the world has crossed the threshold and it has overturned the order of the soul When they said REPENT REPENT I wonder what they meant When they said REPENT REPENT I wonder what they meant When they said REPENT REPENT I wonder what they meant
You don't know me from the wind you never will, you never did I'm the little jew who wrote the Bible I've seen the nations rise and fall I've heard their stories, heard them all but love's the only engine of survival Your servant here, he has been told to say it clear, to say it cold: It's over, it ain't going any further And now the wheels of heaven stop you feel the devil's riding crop Get ready for the future: it is murder
Things are going to slide ...
There'll be the breaking of the ancient western code Your private life will suddenly explode There'll be phantoms There'll be fires on the road and the white man dancing You'll see a woman hanging upside down her features covered by her fallen gown and all the lousy little poets coming round tryin' to sound like Charlie Manson and the white man dancin'
Give me back the Berlin wall Give me Stalin and St Paul Give me Christ or give me Hiroshima Destroy another fetus now We don't like children anyhow I've seen the future, baby: it is murder
Things are going to slide ...
When they said REPENT REPENT ...

Alan Watts had this great lecture where he talked about a guy who inhaled nitrous and comprehended the meaning of the universe, he then struggled to remember to write it down, and when he awoke he looked at what he had wrote: "Everything is the smell of burnt almonds"
In the song "Rosetta Stoned" on Tool's 10,000 Days, is the lyric:
"Then he looked right through me With somniferous almond eyes Don't even know what that means I must remember to write it down"
Which I think is a direct reference to Watts' philosophical story about the impossibility of translating the ecstatic experience.
Here's the whole song:
Tool - Rosetta Stoned
Alrighty, then ... picture this if you will.
10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes, in my "need to know" pose, just outside of Area 51 Contemplating the whole "chosen people" thingy when a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this. Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my Birkenstocks, and me yelping...
Holy fucking shit!
Then the X-Files being, Looking like some kind of blue-green Jackie Chan with Isabella Rossellini lips, and breath that reeked of vanilla Chig Champa Did a slow-mo Matrix descent Outta the butt end of the banana vessel And hovered above my bug-eyes, my gaping jaw, and my sweaty L. Ron Hubbard upper lip, and all I could think was: "I hope Uncle Martin here doesn't notice that I pissed my fuckin' pants."
So light in his way, Like an apparition, [that] He had me crying out, "Fuck me It's gotta be the Deadhead Chemistry The blotter got [right] on top of me Got me seein' E-motherfuckin'-T!"
And after calming me down with some orange slices and some fetal spooning, E.T. revealed to me his singular purpose. He said, "You are the Chosen One, the One who will deliver the message. A message of hope for those who choose to hear it and a warning for those who do not." Me. The Chosen One? They chose me!!! And I didn't even graduate from fuckin' high school.
You'd better... You'd better... You'd better... You'd better listen.
Then he looked right through me With somniferous almond eyes Don't even know what that means Must remember to write it down This is so real Like the time Dave floated away See, my heart is pounding 'Cause this shit never happens to me
I can't breathe right now!
It was so real, Like I woke up in Wonderland. All sorta terrifying I don't wanna be all alone While I tell this story. And can anyone tell me why Y'all sound like Peanuts parents? Will I ever be coming down? This is so real Finally, it's my lucky day See, my heart is racing 'Cause this shit never happens to me
I can't breathe right now!
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I've just said! See the Dead ain't touring And this wasn't all in my head. See, they took me by the hand And invited me right in. Then they showed me something I don't even know where to begin.
Strapped down [to] my bed Feet cold [and] eyes red I'm out of my head Am I alive? Am I dead? Can't remember what they said God damn, shit the bed.
Hey ...
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position. Such a heavy burden now to be the One Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending, To write it down for all the world to see.
But I forgot my pen Shit the bed again ... Typical.
Strapped down [to] my bed Feet cold and eyes red I'm out of my head Am I alive? Am I dead? Sunkist and Sudafed * Gyroscopes and infrared Won't help, I'm brain dead Can't remember what they said God damn, shit the bed
I can't remember what they said to me Can't remember what they said to make me out to be the hero Can't remember what they said Bob help me! Can't remember what they said
[We] don't know, [and we] won't know (x12)
God damn, shit the bed!
another one:
In the book Prometheus Rising, Robert Anton Wilson talks about "Time Binding" and "Strange Loops" and in the song "Algorithm" by Forest For The Trees is the lyric "Sometimes riding a very strange loop, back in time I bind..." which is an obvious reference to R.A.W.
Here's the whole song:
Forest For The Trees - Algorithm
Everything that ever was is a song that is sung to existence I keep stepping over the boundary and I see the essence of my being Spiraling, panoramic emotion Sentimental, eternal vision Melodies of intrinsic meaning riding so very high
Algorithm of happiness Algorithm of perfect bliss Algorithm of consciousness Algorithm of Satori
Undulating pattern, caressing, Flowing perspective shift Pulling in a wave of thought from ... the infinite Sensing a chaotic touch of love That the ebbs in this beautiful cycle Sometimes riding a very strange loop back in time I find/bind...

The Grateful Dead - Box of Rain
Look out of any window any morning, any evening, any day Maybe the sun is shining birds are winging or rain is falling from a heavy sky - What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through? this is all a dream we dreamed one afternoon long ago Walk out of any doorway feel your way, feel your way like the day before Maybe you'll find direction around some corner where it's been waiting to meet you - What do you want me to do, to watch for you while you're sleeping? Well please don't be surprised when you find me dreaming too
Look into any eyes you find by you, you can see clear through to another day I know it's been seen before through other eyes on other days while going home -- What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through? It's all a dream we dreamed one afternoon long ago
Walk into splintered sunlight Inch your way through dead dreams to another land Maybe you're tired and broken Your tongue is twisted with words half spoken and thoughts unclear What do you want me to do to do for you to see you through A box of rain will ease the pain and love will see you through
Just a box of rain - wind and water - Believe it if you need it, if you don't just pass it on Sun and shower - Wind and rain - in and out the window like a moth before a flame
It's just a box of rain I don't know who put it there Believe it if you need it or leave it if you dare But it's just a box of rain or a ribbon for your hair Such a long long time to be gone and a short time to be there

The Grateful Dead - Black Muddy Water
When the last rose of summer pricks my finger, And the hot sun chills me to the bone, When I can't hear the song for the singer, And I can't tell my pillow from a stone, I will walk alone by the black muddy river, And sing me a song of my own, I will walk alone by the black muddy river, And sing me a song of my own.
When the last bolt of sunshine hits the mountain, And the stars start to splatter in the sky, When the moon hits the southwest horizon, With the scream of an eagle on the fly, I will walk alone by the black muddy river, And listen to the ripples as they moan, I will walk alone by the black muddy river, And sing me a song of my own.
Black muddy river, roll on forever, I don't care how deep or wide, if you've got another side, Roll muddy river, roll muddy river, black muddy river, roll.
When it seems like the night will last forever, And there's nothing left to do but count the years, When the strings of my heart begin to sever, And stones fall from my eyes instead of tears, I will walk alone, by the black muddy river, And dream me a dream of my own, I will walk alone, by the black muddy river, And sing me a song of my own, sing me a song of my own

Has our conscience shown? Has the sweet breeze blown? Has all the kindness gone? Hope still lingers on. I drink myself of newfound pity Sitting alone in new york city And I dont know why.
Are we listening to hyms of offering? Have we eyes to see that love is gathering? All the words that I've been reading Have now started the act of bleeding into one.
So I walk up on high And I step to the edge To see my world below. And I laugh at myself As the tears roll down. cause its the world I know. Its the world I know.

K-Os - Hallelujah
I walk down these city streets Just a lonely man inspired Hoping God will send me water down To quench this burning fire If I left here for the mountains A monastery man Things will stay the same so I'll remain And show just who I am Seeing things around me Bonnie and Clyde Graffiti with no message Doctor's medicine deprived But it doesn't really matter They're blowing in the wind On the cover of a magazine
Hallelujah Babylon is falling Babylon is falling
I try to wash my dirty hands But they won't come off the water Hoping truth will make me clean and then Redeem my sons and daughters Though they're not yet on the very highway Pass along below That's why I left my memories far behind the lazy road Seems so simple Future's the past The present all the things we're holding on to make them last But it doesn't really matter Blowing in the wind With their head high
Hallelujah Babylon is falling Babylon is falling
(There's a link to this song on YouTube on WScottsdale's signature, or at least there was very recently)
-------------------- “Strengthened by contemplation and study, I will not fear my passions like a coward. My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Quote:
Solsbury Hill -- Peter Gabriel
Climbing up on Solsbury Hill I could see the city light Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe Came in close, I heard a voice Standing stretching every nerve I had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information Just had to trust imagination My heart going boom boom, boom "Son," he said, "Grab your things, I've come to take you home."
To keeping silence I resigned My friends would think I was a nut Turning water into wine Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day Though my life was in a rut Untill I thought of what I'd say Which connection I should cut
I was feeling part of the scenery I walked right out of the machinery My heart going boom boom boom "Hey," he said, "grab your things, I've come to take you home." Yeah back home
When illusion spin her net I'm never where I want to be And liberty she pirouette When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes Who close their eyes, but still can see No one taught them etiquette I will show another me
Today I don't need a replacement I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant My heart going boom boom boom "Hey," I said, "You can keep my things, they've come to take me home."
-------------------- "A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

Guns N' Roses Civil War
Quote:
"What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach... So, you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it! Well, he gets it! N' I don't like it any more than you men." *
Look at your young men fighting Look at your women crying Look at your young men dying The way they've always done before
Look at the hate we're breeding Look at the fear we're feeding Look at the lives we're leading The way we've always done before
My hands are tied The billions shift from side to side And the wars go on with brainwashed pride For the love of God and our human rights And all these things are swept aside By bloody hands time can't deny And are washed away by your genocide And history hides the lies of our civil wars
D'you wear a black armband When they shot the man Who said "Peace could last forever" And in my first memories They shot Kennedy I went numb when I learned to see So I never fell for Vietnam We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all That you can't trust freedom When it's not in your hands When everybody's fightin' For their promised land
And I don't need your civil war It feeds the rich while it buries the poor Your power hungry sellin' soldiers In a human grocery store Ain't that fresh I don't need your civil war
Look at the shoes your filling Look at the blood we're spilling Look at the world we're killing The way we've always done before Look in the doubt we've wallowed Look at the leaders we've followed Look at the lies we've swallowed And I don't want to hear no more
My hands are tied For all I've seen has changed my mind But still the wars go on as the years go by With no love of God or human rights 'Cause all these dreams are swept aside By bloody hands of the hypnotized Who carry the cross of homicide And history bears the scars of our civil wars
"We practice selective annihilation of mayors And government officials For example to create a vacuum Then we fill that vacuum As popular war advances Peace is closer" **
I don't need your civil war It feeds the rich while it buries the poor Your power hungry sellin' soldiers In a human grocery store Ain't that fresh And I don't need your civil war I don't need your civil war I don't need your civil war Your power hungry sellin' soldiers In a human grocery store Ain't that fresh I don't need your civil war I don't need one more war
I don't need one more war Whaz so civil 'bout war anyway
