I was really excited when I first posted this, then I read the news about Dreamer. That was very upsetting. I loved that guy. So mature for his age, I mean...it seems like he was years older then he actually was. He was posting on these boards at age 15(I think). Sorry, I'm totally just rambling, but it's crazy that he won't be around here anymore. I can't imagine the Shroomery without him.
He will be missed.

Congrats, Des.

I think the water birth thing is much more for the child then it is for the woman giving birth. Supposedly it's much more gentle.. going from a warm fluid-filled womb you've been in for nine months into a warm saline water.. a smooth transition. As opposed to the normal method of going from a warm fluid-filled womb, into a 20+ degree drop of temperature, cold air and bright lights (usually), is a shock when being born. Not to mention in the water birth method, the babies come out sometimes swimming, they are usually allowed to continue breathing through the umbilical cord for a few minutes until it stops functioning to allow an easier transition as well, instead of just snipping it off as soon as they come out which forces them to take short sharp breaths into the lungs, which could be the reason most people breath improperly.. we've been doing it since we were born. Birth is usually much more tragic then death, for the person undergoing it anyway. But I've heard it's easier on the woman too, since the warm water loosens certain muscles.. At any rate it's a personal choice.
And congrats!

I would do a lot of my own research rather than taking a doctor at his word (Especially if the doctor's word is what you'd prefer to hear.)
