mandarin oranges

I heard from my friend who grew shrooms for awhile that if u add the light syrup that mandarin oranges come in into your bulk or normal substrate that your shrooms will grow larger, have more flushes, and taste better. Any input would be appreciated because I'm about to inoculate over a hundred jars with 7 different cubensis strains within the week. This is a JOKE. It will Probably NOT WORK

I've been looking for a good mandarin orange tek.
So far, I can't even think of a word that rhymes with orange.

Here you go.
You don't want to add sugars directly to your bulk substrates. That would be asking for inevitable contamination. Not to mention all of the preservatives that abound in canned foods.
It wouldn't even be a viable choice for a liquid culture. The syrup consists of mostly sucrose, which is a complex carbohydrate. Mycelium thrives on simple sugars, such as dextrose.
If you're looking to improve on a bulk substrate, try using different ingredients that compliment each other. Composted Hpoo, straw, coir, and a bit of spent coffee grounds to boost nitrogen content would be a good start.
Just stick to a reputable tek until you get a few grows under your belt before you go experimenting, junior.

I heard if you take orange peels and ferment them in toothpaste, you get acid. It has to be true.

Sucrose isn't really that complex, just a disaccharide. Mycelium which is capable of digesting straw isn't going to have much problem with sucrose.
What do you think is in turbinado sugar? Sugar = sucrose. Or malt? Malt = Maltose, another disaccharide, of two glucose (aka dextrose) instead of a glucose and a fructose (= sucrose)
To the OP. Edit your original post and put a big, IT'S a JOKE on the bottom or some newblit is going to just read the first post, take it as a fact and we are going to have disaster on our hands.
Hi I followed the Theshroomjew mandarin orange tek and my cakes have contaminated. Why is this? I followed all the instructions exactly.
