something extremely fishy is happening with my computer and im at a loss of what to do
ive ran spybot, ad-aware, and regcleaner and all have failed to fix my problem
whenever i go to yahoo.com or gmail to check my email, im redirected to a https: version and its saying my password is invalid and im also getting a rediculous amount of popups whenever i visit webpages.
ive removed numerous trackers and several malicious spyware called system32 or something, but I cant seem to fix this.

I don't know as much as alot of others here, but experienced something like this previously. Know that my advice may be worthless, and you may want to wait for someone else.
1. What OS are you using? Is it updated? 2. Might as well do a virus scan, as it seems like you haven't. There are online ones (Panda I think) and free trials. 3. I had something like this once, I believe, where you are redirected to porn, b.s. commerical sites, and expensive watch shit? Are you getting this, or just redirected to https versions of the mail pages? Are other URL's being redirected?

Im running shitty ass Vista.
Ive probably ran 50 scans in the past 6 hours trying to do this myself.
Its redirecting me on a lot of personal pages aka email, banking, investment sites, ect.
Im on the phone with HP now. Im thinking an entire system restore might be my best bet. Luckily im still under warranty.

do you have an antivirus running?
if you do, is it up to date?
if you don't have one, get one and scan your hard drive. there are a couple free ones (AVG and Avast! are the ones i've used) or you could get a pirated copy of another one (like kaspersky or NOD32 or something) or you could actually buy one, but fuck that.
kaspersky internet security really cleaned up my computer back when i had an extremely infected XP. i really recommend it.
i also recommend switching to linux. ever since i installed it i rarely log on to windows.

poke smot! said: Unfortunately it might turn out to be some complex issue with SSL, certificates, some windows service(s) and possibly also something in the registry. I've seen computers go nuts in their dealings with https pages. I've never tried fixing this issue in vista, though.
In XP it was possible to reinstall internet exploder and reset the services that provide HTTPS, but really it is difficult to diagnose & fix without actually being at the computer.
luckily not. I did a full recover and made a couple changes to maybe prevent this from happening again, switched from IE6 to Firefox. and switched from Spybot Anti-virus to Nod32. what a complete waste of my day
thank you for the quick feedback

Try an alternate browser like Firefox:
http://www.mozilla.com
Your problem sounds like a browser setting. I think there's a setting somewhere in IE that requires all connections to go over HTTPS instead of HTTP. If that's true, then switching browsers will confirm it (and you'll like Firefox better anyway).

I had used internet explorer ever since I owned a computer and never bothered using any other browser except Opera at one time, which was just as bad.
Firefox is much better and also seems to have better built-in security
