i know its a noob question and likely stupid .. but is an early casing possible as long as its mixed with a suitable substrate or is that just a recipie for contamination ?

If I understand your title right, You'd be spawning to grain, not casing. I'm sure there are ways to mitigate the risk of contamination, but perhaps you should grow cakes to completion first before attempting a spawn or g2g.

dam didnt post my reply the first time .. yah i meant to do only brf cakes but didnt realize mex cant grow on it till after .. now im wondering if i can squeeze sclerotia out of the brf ??? or if a spawning to rye grass from brf with a hella thick casing would make the journey ?? or need i gtg in jars first b4 spawning ??
